Car description

This 1953 International Harvester R-132 is powered by its original 220ci Silver Diamond Engine, backed bya heavy-duty, unsynchronized, 4-speed gearbox. It also features a very rare, "ARISTOCRAT" hydraulic flatbed that was manufactured by The Truck Engineering Co., powered by a PTO driven hydraulic pump, manufactured by Blackhawk Mfg. Co. The tilting bed is a very rare factory option, and the controls are seamlessly integrated into the dashboard and cab floor. The tilt bed and hydraulic system works flawlessly! I hauled this truck from a barn in West Virginia about 5 years ago, though I believe the truck was originally owned in Indiana. The truck is all original, other than regular maintenance pieces and paint, and is offered with a clear Virginia title.
Some surface corrosion is present, as visible in the photos, but no major corrosion or rust anywhere. Frame and body are both very solid. Dings and dents can be seen around the body, and the driver side window is cracked.

  • Engine Starts and Runs Reliably, battery holds a charge. Engine does not smoke or burn oil. Oil pressure shows as good on the gauge.
  • All gauges and dash controls work.
  • Brakes work well, rubber hoses have been recently replaced.
  • Hydraulic tilting bed works flawlessly.
  • Holly 1904 carburetor with glass float bowl has been recently rebuilt.
  • Included with the truck are 7 spare wheels, 5 of which have tires (13 wheels & 11 tires total). All tires hold air, 6 are fairly new, 5 are older but serviceable.
Included Factory Options
  • The R-132 was the dually version of International Harvester's R-130 line. It has a gross carrying capacity rating of 5,300 lbs. Top speed is somewhere around 50 mph.
  • Optional hydraulic tilt bed, wood sides appear to be original also.
  • Optional oil filter.
  • Optional left-side arm rest.
  • Optional dome light.
  • Optional recirculating heater.
  • Optional rear-view mirror.
  • Optional right-side sun visor.
What doesn't work?
  • Ignition system is in need of servicing, as the engine occasionally stumbles at higher RPMs.
  • Turn signals, brake lights, cabin light, and heater are not working.
  • Driver side window is cracked.
  • Windshield wipers need replacing. Vacuum operated wiper motor still works, though not all that well.
