Car description

To my great sadness, he time has come for me to sell my Scout. It is a 1969 Scout 800A Aristocrat. The Aristocrats were originally painted silver and dark blue, ad dark blue vinyl interior, nd came with a chrome roof rack. They were the last scouts produced with the old body style. Production was from November 1968 - 1970. This one is no longer the original color and has been painted gold. The Scout is currently registered in the state of Colorado. Condition and History: This scout ran when I bought it in 2003, ut it leaked and burned a fair bit of oil. I pulled the engine and took the block in to be cleaned, inspected, nd have the cylinders honed. With the aid of an excellent reproduction of the original shop manual, rebuilt the engine, replacing the pistons. Since the engine rebuild, have cared for it as I would a child, nd I had every intention of restoring it to its former glory. It served as my daily driver for about three years, ntil the brake master cylinder failed. I replaced the master cylinder, ut I have not driven it much at all since because it has a few other issues that need attention. Long story short, no longer have the resources to care for it the way it needs, nd I would rather see it go to a good home than allow it to rot. Here are the specs: Engine: 304 V8 Transmission: 4-speed manual (first gear is granny low) Odometer: 153,797 manual steering manual brakes (drums on all 4) dual 10-gallon fuel tanks The (major) issues: The alternator has a bearing that is about to go. The carburetor bowl overflows, nd the carb itself needs more tuning. There is drag in the front axle. I have not been able to determine the cause yet. With this in mind, ou can drive the Scout around the block, ut NOT long distances. It was obviously in an accident at some point in the past, hich damaged the frame. The rear end is a little crooked, ut it drives straight. The body has some less-than-stellar bondo repair work. The original steering wheel was replaced with the little one you see in the photograph. Without power steering, his makes driving a bit of a workout. I have the spare tire mount, ut it is not attached. Otherwise, t has the typical Scout issues...a little rust here and there, nd a small leak at the oil filter adapter. The interior seats have rips in the upholstery. The speakers for the radio do not work. The goodies: I have the original steering wheel, long with a few spare parts that are difficult to find: an oil pump, harmonic balancer, spare exhaust manifold, nd an oil pan. I am also including the shop manual and other documentation. This Scout has the backseat with lap belts installed (we took our three kids on trips in the Rocky Mountains and they rode in the backseat). Please let me know if I can hep with additional photos or other information. The Scout is located in Brighton, olorado (just 20 miles outside of Denver).
