Car description

1962 Ford Falcon 4-door wagon. restored from rusty oblivion. This is a decent amateur restoration that began with a body that was badly rusted in a few areas. All rust has been removed and/or arrested. Floors are new and solid. The original wagon was NOT a factory "Country Squire" steel woodie; the restoration turned a wagon with deluxe trim into a Country Squire lookalike. including wood features in the rear cargo area that were not present in the factory version. All running gear has been worked over extensively. making the car operationally like new. Brake system is entirely new. Clutch is new. Shocks are new. Tires are new (including the spare). Includes original jack and tire iron. Exhaust system is all new. The engine is the popular Ford 170-ci six (not original to this car. the previous owner said. but an available option in 1962). It was overhauled. with all new seals and gaskets. rings. etc. Valves were removed and reseated. Starts instantly and runs well. Interior is new: upholstery. carpeting. door panels. Also. all rubber window and door seals are new. It has a retro radio/stereo AM/FM/MP3/USB) that fits the original dash opening. and speakers mounted in the front kick panels. It's a great-looking car. a real head-turner. Two negatives that should be mentioned: It has a typically sloppy (but entirely functional) three-on-the-tree shift linkage. Tinkering with the linkage adjustment over time will likely help. And because the air plenum (underneath the dash) was badly rusted away. the heating/ventilating/defrosting system has been eliminated (as well as the grille in front of the windshield that fed the ventilation system). Also. the steering wheel horn button doesn't work. There's a horn button on the dash. Otherwise. it's ready to show or to drive.
