Car description

1966 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 truck.
This truck was built at the Fremont Ford Plant for California Fish & Game. The truck has no rust (with the exception of surface rust on the bottom every truck has), no dents to speak of and most of the body work was done and I started painting it slowly. It took a while since I was doing it a panel at a time. I needed to finish the drivers door that had a small dent then epoxy prime the rest of the unfinished body and finish the paint. A person might not like my paint job but it was fine for me. The drip rails are good and my plans were to dig out the old caulk prime it and re-caulk, remove the glass etc.
It runs pretty darn good but I started taking a few things off the engine to get them rebuilt, things like the:1. The original brake booster (been rebuilt ready to go in)2. Radiator (out but yet to be done) I was going to replace with a new aluminum..(oh well)3. Interioris taken apart to paint, POR 15 the floors and place in new seats, floor mat etc.
I wanted go through the engine on the light items and start driving it, hoses, wire clean up & belts but I had to stop and get a medical procedure done taking me away from the project and making realize I'll need to sell it.
In the beginning of her officialservice she had installed a warn 870 winch and bumper and it's still there as it was when it was in service. I had plans to not only restore the truck but make it my daily driver, so making it a show truck was not my intention.
I researched the original "Blue Crush" interior seat cover and had SMS out of Oregon make the exact cover in "Green Crush" seeing I was painting green. The seat cover is made from exactlythe same material as it was new from the factory and took two years to get. That alone was $700 plus shipping. The truck has the factory spot light, and I have the originaltailgate. Transmission is a "Top Loader 4 speed with a great granny low".
I sourced the originalmirror brackets that came on the truck so the originalholes on the doors would work. I have the entire rubber kit (doors & windows to include a new floor mat and chrome badges & window trim, tail lights etc). and why I wanted to remove the doors to paint, re-rubberize and hang. The truck has the rear bumper of it's time in great condition, ready to be repainted.
The bed is pretty good as well on the inside. I felt pretty confident I could tap out the dents and restore it. I wanted to add the in bed spare tire mount, something I thought was real eye catching for the time.
I have the originaltwo barrel intake manifold for the engine but I replaced it with an eldebrock with a new four barrel carb. I also Have the new chrome badges and other miscellaneousparts. Grill is excellent and original!
The F-250 4x4 came with a four spoke steering wheel and chrome four spoke chrome horn bezel when it was new although that was removed and someone placed a three spoke after market on her. I ended up finding a perfect four spoke for both, wheel and horn so this truck has the all the originalfeatures one would hope for but needs to be installed. The glass is good and not cracked. My plan was to make it look bone stock and return to owning an easy to work on truck without smog laws.
It needs tires, I have some rollers on the steel rims for moving it around and I was planned on putting brand news on once it was painted but the project is stalled now as you've read.
If you'er looking for a classic 66 3/4 ton Ford 4x4 to base a restoration on that's never been in an accident, you won't find a better truck to start with, no rot! But it will need some time spent restoring so don't plan to drive it home.I did drive this around my property, climbed a few hills (like a tank) for fun and parked it to start working on it. It will be missed, not easy to find anymore.
I have the grill, door handles & locks, badges and other parts off because it was in the process of paint, everything is boxed. The new owner will get everything I have to include to include what paint I have. The paint seen is a 57 Thunderbird color.
I've been doing truck & car restorationsfor over 40 years and I was looking forward to this one, this is one tough truck. All the parts are there!
Email me with questions if you have them.
