    Viva Las Vegas Autos Presents...

An absolutely intense and stunning 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback with Dual Four Barrel Carburetors and a 4 Speed Manual Transmission. For those who follow my auctions, you'll know I only sell the best when it comes to desirable classic cars both modern and vintage. For me, when it comes to classic muscle, nothing speaks more to me than one that can be driven. Not just driven to the car shows here and there, but driven because you just feel like you want to drive it any day of the week for any reason. When it comes to most vintage muscle cars, that ideal is rarely found. Either the car is too original and overly restored to a point that you don't want to risk driving it daily or in many cases, it's just not reliable enough to put your mind at ease to take it for daily spins. Well, the answer that most collectors have found to resolve drivability issues is to simply modify their cars. Some are highly modified and others more simplistically.

As you read and view the pictures of this incredible 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback, you will see that the mildly modified approach was executed perfectly on this build. More importantly, it was obviously done by a builder that knew exactly how to make this car a work of art top to bottom and retain the original essence of the 1968 Era. A build like this is not just a bolt it on in a weekend project. As we go through a detailed build process it'll astound you at the attention to details we see and disclose and well as what you will be able to see as well. We want you to know what you are getting for your investment and best of all, as it always is, your investment in money and time will be substantially less than what the builder put into this incredible car.

Viva Las Vegas Autos Known History...

The history that we know of with this 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback is pretty simple. We were buying a museum quality 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible K-Code from a collector in Southern Utah. Once we made that deal on his pristine Convertible, we noticed another covered car in his garage on a four post lift. The body lines were unmistakable; there was a fastback under that cover. I threw it out there that we would love to see it and the owner obliged. One lift of the cover and we knew we had to go home with both...thank goodness the owner was in the mood for lining his wallet with lots of cash. Since we only had one trailer, the choice was easy; drive the 68 back to Vegas and enjoy the thumbs up ride. Almost a three hour drive right through the deserts north of Las Vegas went splendidly. I was clocking 80-90 mph the whole way home. Not a glitch occurred other than I noticed the hood blinkers didn't work when the headlights were on. An easy fix for us.

When we were talking to the seller about the car, he had owned it for years, loved the car because it was such an incredible driver. He really didn't intend to sell it to us, I think it was just a good day and he liked us. The great thing about seeing the car inside his massive garage on the four post lift, we were able to see the quality of metal work this car had received during its restoration. Then he surprised us with a large poster showing the restoration that was a complete total nut an bolt dismantling restoration. The rebuild included all new suspension and fully rebuilt original GT 302 and 4-speed drivetrain. One addition to the build that truly makes this car exciting is the Shelby Dual Quads Carburetion set up that function flawlessly. The poster documents the build from the purchase sometime in Aug, 1993 and the build lasted until late 1994 or later with the completion. The changeover of ownership shows titling in 2002; possibly when the restoring owners finally completed the full restoration. The folks we bought it from had it for nearly ten years as well. The owners we bought it from stated the car was never driven in wet weather EVER...during their ownership. Based on the underside of the car, that appears plausible.

    Viva Las Vegas Autos Perparations...

Whenever we buy a classic car, our first steps of getting the car ready for market is a thorough visual, mechanical and functional inspection. Driving this car the night we bought it across the desert back to Las Vegas for nearly three hours was great. I learned the blinkers in the hood worked with the lights off but when the headlights were on, they didn't. So we fixed that. I also had my mobile phone with me that I couldn't charge because the power point was unhooked; another easy fix. Next we decided to do a more correct and thorough undercarriage restoration with correct finishes. A few days working on the underside and that really paid off for a visually stunning factory like finish. It also shows just how nicely the metal work had been done by the original body shop.

Assessment as far as we can determine...

his car started out life as a 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback J-Code (302ci 4bbl) with a four speed manual transmission and a standard black interior. The original paint would have been Black, for a black on black fastback GT. Although the red paint finish looks great, I must admit a black on black GT fastback would have been cool to keep it that way. More important than paint color preferences, the body work and metal work on this car was done to very high standards. You can see this in the historical pictures as well as close inspection on the car, top to bottom. I think if I were judging the car, I would not call it perfection or museum quality, but top level metal work from a reputable shop would not be overstating it. As for the paint finish, I would say it has aged excellent and shows nearly no wear and obviously garage kept. The overall finish of the car is very good but not factory perfect. There are minor blemishes in the finish, mostly in the topcoat clear. You have to get within a couple feet to see them.

So for those expecting "Flawless Perfection" move on and make that permanent space in your garage for your museum piece. For those who want a car that will be respected at any car show, or those who want to drive their show quality GT Fastback anywhere they want, keep reading. This car is as good as it looks and you won't be disappointed.Functionally speaking, this car is fantastic and performs exceptionally on all levels. Nothing less than pure joy driving this car and the dual quads power will put a big smile on your face. Is anything needed to enjoy this car immediately? No, just your generous bids because a 68 Fastback J-Code 4 speed this nice will not be a cheap investment with the market these days. But on the flipside, It will be an investment quality car that will only go up in value as we are already seeing these GT Fastbacks soar in value. So bid like you want to win it if you are going to bid at all.

Viva Las Vegas Autos Note from the Owner. . .

I am a "used car dealer" but before that, I'm an automobile enthusiast. I love original, rare and high quality modified vintage and modern cars. Over the past 15 years I've been in business, I have come to appreciate an expanding selection of high-demand, high value vehicles as well. I specialize in and I am always on the lookout for cars and trucks that were cherished by their previous owners.

I have an experienced eye for quality and I've discovered that my preferred buyers can instantly discern such a vehicle and I have therefore, built my business and reputation around finding these kinds of cars for this type of customer.Super low miles and/or gentle ownership are strict requirements but a car must do something for me on a personal level if there is any hope of convincing you, the buyer, that this is an above average, exceptional vehicle. If nothing about the car excites me, it probably won't do much for you either and I would soon be out of business.

With just four employees and no sales people, I realize how unusual a "dealership" like mine may be at a first glance. It has taken great care and effort to create such an organization and often, an unusually high investment in a particular car we are about to list. To sell the best it is critical to have a trusted expert in my corner. First we do an exhaustive 130 point inspection on each and every vehicle and hope nothing escapes our methodical investigation. Experience has shown that everything I spend making a car truly "right" will come back to me not only with a higher selling price, but a happy customer that says good things about Viva Las Vegas Autos. Moreover; it allows us to describe the car with ease and confidence, something that simply is not possible unless we think it is true. If major issues are found or the cost of fixing the car the way it should be makes it too expensive to sell, my choice is an easy one. I simply absorb a few hundred dollars loss for my trouble and sell it at auction so you don't get a headache over the vehicle.

After the vehicle is fully checked over and made whole at any level it needs to be, we researches its history, documents documenting originality and authenticity. Historical significance, rarity, special features, possible modifications and much more are used to accurately describe the vehicle with integrity and honesty. Most important for the potential buyer are the 100 to 200 high resolution pictures that I take myself. The pricey equipment I use would be right at home in the hands of the very best professional photographers and I've developed a logical format that walks you around the entire vehicle with close-up shots of every square inch. I provide detailed views of the interior, under the hood and then put it on a lift to show the undercarriage and confirm that the beauty of the car you are considering is not merely skin deep. Even our detailers are enthusiastic about the cars they meticulously clean. Reconditioning can sometimes take several as we do all that we can within reason to get our vehicles in tip top condition visually and cosmetically. Way more than just a cheap detail....Our details are more like refurbishing to as close to new as we can possibly get our vehicles

Usually, I'll also include a high definition video that shows the car doing its thing. If it's a fast car, we film it going fast. If it's a 4x4 you'll see it crawling up a hill. In every case you will hear things like a rumbling exhaust, working sound system and watch gauges operational as well.

No "dealer," on-line or in the real world, takes it to this level. No other seller or organization provides you, the buyer, with so much information. I do this because it is the only way I can convince a person; often a world away, unable to touch or feel their purchase that my vehicle is for real and what I say is an honest assessment. All the above is necessary for me to stay in business while keeping integrity intact.I want every buyer to be happy and I need glowing feedback on eBay. To accomplish that I need satisfied customers that are as thrilled with their purchase as I was when I bought it.

If you have any questions at all, please call me on my cell at: 702-353-7500. If your inquiry is sincere and your offerserious, you'll find me the most accommodating business partner you've ever dealt with. If you call or e-mail asking for my reserve or "what is my bottom line" I will be looking for ways to politely end the conversation. Until you are ready to actually make an offer, I will happily quote you a liberal suggested retail price - a number we both know will not buy the car so, don't waste your time, or mine. I am after all, a "used car dealer.”
