Shelby cooked up the GT350. which offered a stout small block and a whole host of suspension upgrades to make it one of the most entertaining cars you can own. This 1968 Shelby GT350 offers its original. numbers-matching 302. factory-style A/C. and an appealing color combination. which all add up to an investment-grade car that you can drive regularly without worries. Shelby values are always pushing upwards. but this is one of those rare cars that hasn't been restored as a trailer queen to chase trophies. Instead. it's always been a very high-quality driver. and every Shelby fan will tell you. that's really what you want when you buy one. Code T Red paint is this car's original color and there's no mistaking the Shelby's distinctive white stripes and rocker panel decals. It was restored a few years ago. so someone else has already put the first nick on its face. yet it still commands the big respect at cruise nights where everyone knows this is a special car. The fiberglass hood and deck lid actually fit far better than they did when these cars were new and the paint work is very accurately done with crisp masking on the stripes and proper reproduction decals. Other special Shelby details include the Marchal driving lights up front. sequential Thunderbird taillights. and the C-pillar scoops that all give it a very hi-po look. Nice chrome accents add to the sport/luxury image Shelby was aiming for in 1968 and all the brightwork remains in very good shape. The black bucket seat interior is a very pleasing combination of function and luxury. starting with the comfort-weave upholstery and cool center console with armrest. Some of the Mustang's DNA remains quite intact. including the instrument panel and gauges. with Shelby adding a pair of Stewart-Warner gauges down on the wood-faced center console. Factory-style A/C was added almost 30 years ago and it still uses R12 refrigerant. which is a nice bonus. The factory Philco AM radio remains in the dash. just ahead of the 4-speed manual transmission with a Shelby Cobra wooden knob. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather to add to the upscale feel and bright red Cobra-logo floor mats add some welcome contrast to the all-black interior. The trunk is correctly finished with a reproduction mat and full-sized spare. and racers back in the day undoubtedly found the fold-down rear seat a useful feature. This is the car's original. numbers-matching 302 cubic inch V8. which was the standard engine for the GT350. With a wide. flat torque curve and light weight. it gives the GT350 impressive performance regardless of which direction the road is curving. The Cobra valve covers and air cleaner mean nobody will mistake this for a garden-variety Mustang and most of the factory details such as hoses and clamps are quite correctly restored. The A/C looks like it would have if it had come from the factory and the hood uses the correct lightweight hood springs to keep from damaging the fiberglass. The 4-speed manual gearbox feeds a rugged 9-inch rear end with 3. 89 gears inside. so the car's quite punchy around town. A newer exhaust system with correct transverse muffler was installed and it rides on a set of reproduction Shelby 10-spoke alloys that have a classic look without the hassles of the originals. Heavily documented with service records. a Marti Report. and other related paperwork. this very user-friendly GT350 is the Shelby you've wanted since you were a kid.
