1968 Ford Mustang Coupe GT Tribute

Viva Las Vegas Autos Presents . . .

This 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe complete resto-mod GT that nearly every single nut, bolt and component has been replaced of refurbished. This is one of those all too common occasions where you will be able to buy/win this auction for thousands less than what was invested into this incredible build. With a thick file of receipts, and two years in the build process, I can't even begin to look at my cost to build this Mustang or I will lose my mind and want to strangle my builders for the money I spent to build this great ride. So to make it easy to understand, the paint on the car is the only aspect of the entire car that came with the car when I bought it. The rest from top to bottom has been refinished, replaced or rebuilt. As a dealer with Scott Drake, the premier dealer of vintage Mustang parts, I got a deal on buying everything new from them and my receipts still add up to thousands upon thousands.

Viva Las Vegas Autos Known History . . .

The history that we have is simple. A local Boulder City collector owned this car for several years, started to restore the car by having it repainted then found out he had cancer and decided to let me buy the car. It was completely drivable and fully functional but the drivetrain and all components we aged, old and some not functioning properly. The car was an original AC car, but fully inoperative. The interior was done in vinyl and cloth, something Ford never made and I hated the look even though it was nearly new. So since the car was a perfectly rust free western Mustang, I had to own it with the intention of really making it nice. Read on, because making it nice was exactly what we did with a lot of money and paid builders to get it there.
Viva Las Vegas Autos Preparations . . .

So there are the particulars about the car but what I did over the next couple years was make it a great car mechanically and cosmetically. On our Mustang builds, we always start at the bottom of the car. Remove the entire drivetrain, suspension, all removable parts and strip it to bare metal. Then refinish it with Wurth rubberized and paintable undercoat finish. If you know Wurth, that's NOT to cheap black paint. Cost underneath on just the paint itself is nearly $300 wholesale, not counting the time to fully strip the undercarriage and repaint it. Once that is done, with the complete drivetrain and suspension removed, might as well rebuild and reseal all major components. The engine, the transmission and rear-end too. Then why would you put any component that wasn't fully functional? We didn't, so all new brakes and power booster, Flowmaster exhaust, bushings, lines and full new suspension front and rear. A new gas tank, power steering, power steering lines and ram. Then once the engine and transmission were rebuilt and refinished, make sure the engine bay was refinished before the big items went back in. Then, let's dress up the engine itself. Lots of chrome, all new ignition components and carburetor, lines and seals too. Then since the car was originally an AC car, let's completely redo that to brand new and make it a really pleasant driver. Well that was months and months and a crap ton of cash. But now we have the interior. I can't stand it when Nevadans change out vinyl interiors with cloth seating surfaces because it looks awful and unoriginal. Not to mention a Mustang Horse logo in the cloth in bright blue. That just had to go, so when that went, we removed the interior, rebuilt the seats front and rear. Meaning, new foam, repaired frames and properly factory correct reupholstered seats. Properly pulled and tied so they appear as brand new. Not just covered junk seats. Then the headliner had a small hole in it so it came out with the front and rear windows pulled so it could be properly reinstalled under the windows as the factory had done. The rear passenger side panels were also a factory vinyl covered upgrade, so we redid those as well. The dash was rewired and a new pad too. The Aluminum panels were never a 1968 option but we thought it was an upgrade along with the overhead console; a rare treat for the interior. Door panels were replaced. All seals and felts as well all components replaced for the windows too. The sound system upgraded. Shifter linkage rebuilt. Finally the door seals were replaced and the interior was almost entirely brand new and fully functional Including the Corso wood steering wheel. The tachometer was the only item we didn't replace because of the modified ignition. Then the final touch had to be the 17" Chrome rims and tires. Truly gives this Mustang the stance, and modern looks we all like...the front valance air dam was a cool add too. Then don't forget about all the electrical aspects, they all were refinished to work properly or get replaced if needed too. New fuel door on the rear, new bumpers, grill, chrome and GT lights. It all looks pretty great. We hope you feel the same too. Did we miss anything? My pocket book and two years in the shop, I don't think so. At least I sure hope not. Best of all, it drives like a dream and I would drive it anywhere in a Las Vegas second. We have much longer seconds than New York. Ours last for hours because you get stuck here spending your money and drinking. What happens in Vegas stays here but my Mustang will go home with you for sure.

    Cheers

Viva Las Vegas Autos Note from the Owner. . .

I am a "used car dealer" but before that, I'm an automobile enthusiast. I love original, rare and high quality modified vintage and modern cars. Over the past 15 years I've been in business, I have come to appreciate an expanding selection of high-demand, high value vehicles as well. I specialize in and I am always on the lookout for cars and trucks that were cherished by their previous owners.

I have an experienced eye for quality and I've discovered that my preferred buyers can instantly discern such a vehicle and I have therefore, built my business and reputation around finding these kinds of cars for this type of customer.Super low miles and/or gentle ownership are strict requirements but a car must do something for me on a personal level if there is any hope of convincing you, the buyer, that this is an above average, exceptional vehicle. If nothing about the car excites me, it probably won't do much for you either and I would soon be out of business.

With just four employees and no sales people, I realize how unusual a "dealership" like mine may be at a first glance. It has taken great care and effort to create such an organization and often, an unusually high investment in a particular car we are about to list. To sell the best it is critical to have a trusted expert in my corner. First we do an exhaustive 130 point inspection on each and every vehicle and hope nothing escapes our methodical investigation. Experience has shown that everything I spend making a car truly "right" will come back to me not only with a higher selling price, but a happy customer that says good things about Viva Las Vegas Autos. Moreover; it allows us to describe the car with ease and confidence, something that simply is not possible unless we think it is true. If major issues are found or the cost of fixing the car the way it should be makes it too expensive to sell, my choice is an easy one. I simply absorb a few hundred dollars loss for my trouble and sell it at auction so you don't get a headache over the vehicle.

After the vehicle is fully checked over and made whole at any level it needs to be, we researches its history, documents documenting originality and authenticity. Historical significance, rarity, special features, possible modifications and much more are used to accurately describe the vehicle with integrity and honesty. Most important for the potential buyer are the 100 to 200 high resolution pictures that I take myself. The pricey equipment I use would be right at home in the hands of the very best professional photographers and I've developed a logical format that walks you around the entire vehicle with close-up shots of every square inch. I provide detailed views of the interior, under the hood and then put it on a lift to show the undercarriage and confirm that the beauty of the car you are considering is not merely skin deep. Even our detailers are enthusiastic about the cars they meticulously clean. Reconditioning can sometimes take several as we do all that we can within reason to get our vehicles in tip top condition visually and cosmetically. Way more than just a cheap detail....Our details are more like refurbishing to as close to new as we can possibly get our vehicles

Usually, I'll also include a high definition video that shows the car doing its thing. If it's a fast car, we film it going fast. If it's a 4x4 you'll see it crawling up a hill. In every case you will hear things like a rumbling exhaust, working sound system and watch gauges operational as well.

No "dealer," on-line or in the real world, takes it to this level. No other seller or organization provides you, the buyer, with so much information. I do this because it is the only way I can convince a person; often a world away, unable to touch or feel their purchase that my vehicle is for real and what I say is an honest assessment. All the above is necessary for me to stay in business while keeping integrity intact.I want every buyer to be happy and I need glowing feedback on eBay. To accomplish that I need satisfied customers that are as thrilled with their purchase as I was when I bought it.

If you have any questions at all, please call me on my cell at: 702-353-7500. If your inquiry is sincere and your offerserious, you'll find me the most accommodating business partner you've ever dealt with. If you call or e-mail asking for my reserve or "what is my bottom line" I will be looking for ways to politely end the conversation. Until you are ready to actually make an offer, I will happily quote you a liberal suggested retail price - a number we both know will not buy the car so, don't waste your time, or mine. I am after all, a "used car dealer.”
