Car description

A 1979 Ford F250 regular cab 8ft bed Ranger pick-up truck. It is equipped with the 351 M V-8, which has had a very mild RV camshaft put in it, along with aluminized headers and dual exhaust. It has the manual 4spd trans with the granny first gear and two speed manual transfer case, and the 4" deep heavy duty radiator, along with dual block heaters. It has Dana 60 rear end with posi trac differential with the 4.11 gear ratio; the front is equipped with the Dana 44 front axle with 4.11 gear ratio. Both axles have new brakes, front axle has new u-joints and lockouts. The engine has a little over 86.000 original miles on it. Clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing were replaced at xxx miles. The body on the truck looks great but does need a new paint job. A couple small dings in the sheet metal, one small rust spot on the cab corner under the truck. It is black, with red upholstery and trim, has a nearly new carpet, and just an overall clean interior. The trim on the truck is still very presentable. The trucks suspension is at stock height; it does have a set of new wheels and tires and the tires are 235/85 R16. The tires are about 20 years old, however and should be replaced, even though they have never been run. The original spare tire is still mounted in the bed of the truck and has been undercover with a camper cover almost since new. It is a tube-type tire and as a bonus you get the original air. Has heavy duty trailer hitch (2" insert) and trailer light wiring. Has Cibie replaceable bulb halogen headlights. The truck was Ziebart treated within 2 days of purchase (wax based rustproofing), and I have all the original paperwork, maintenance records, and receipts for repairs and replacements. It has the very rare oil bath air cleaner, which was only available aftermarket from Ford and this was the last year available. Recharge requires 1 quart of the cheapest 30W motor oil you can buy once a year. The following extras go with it: Spare mid-ship fuel tank, cloth seat out of late 80s Ford that should fit, extra set of steel 16" wheels in good condition, intermittent wiper harness which was never installed, I am the original owner of the truck. Oil was changed every 2000-3000 miles while it was driven

The down sides, which are few. The truck has spent most of its life in eastern Washington State, where no salt is used on the roads and the humidity is very low, but apparently a little rust got a little started in the cab corner where the Ziebart folks missed. The stamped steel carrier for the mid-ship gas tank is shot, but included is a replacement original in pretty good condition. These carriers have failed on almost every one of the 78-79s that I have seen; they were made of pretty thin steel, caught and retained road salt and mud, and could not be undercoated on the tank side. The truck has been parked for some time, as I had something wrong in a wheel and fearing the worst, simply decided to put brakes and cylinders on all the way around (turned out to be a broken spring on the rear brakes). Had a problem with disconnecting the brake line from the aluminum junction block, and never got back around to finishing repairs due to the birth of a handicapped son. So there it sits. It likely needs a new set of brake lines and a junction block, and possibly a new master cylinder, the way brake fluid absorbs moisture. The dash pad has split in several places due to age, and some of the paint on the steel portion of the dash between the pad and the windshield has peeled. The original seat has a blanket cover on it, it was the knitted vinyl and had split in several places on the driver side. The truck was running great when parked, but has not been started in about 7-8 years.
