Car description

1969 Fairlane 500 Convertible. Car started life as a M code (4bbl 351), Auto trans, power disc brakesnow has a 5.0 roller motor out of a '87 GT that a friend wrecked (75k).I swapped all the older related parts to convert to proper belts and mechanical fuel pump, also swapped to carb intake and Holley carb. There is a 70's Ford Dura spark distributor that is fired by the MSD box to eliminate the points. Motor runs strong. I don't like the look of the serpentine set-up on vintage cars, doesn't look right.I put a 4 speed toploader along with new clutch, Hurst shifter. I also installed a proper floor shift steering column. I did this swap a little over 10 - 12 years ago and have only used the car for about 500-700 miles in that time. Tires were new at that time, mounted on a set of chrome factory Cobra Jet wheels. I never hooked up the speedo as I didn't have proper cable. Miles show 72k on the odometer and was working before I did the swap, but nowdoes not work. I also never hooked up the heater at that time. I have used this car every summer since I put it together with this combo, although somewhat sparingly to local cruises andoccasional Sundaydrives with my wife. My wife keeps reminding me that her 68 GT convertible has been sitting since 1998, so I've decided to pass this along to someone else and try and get after her car.

Car runs and drives strong.front disc brakes were freshened a couple of years ago along with rebuilt booster. Body is real solid and looks decent There was some rust repair underneath that was done very well by prior owner, along with a driver quality respray. The front hood is from a 69 Torino GT and was just sprayed black, not body color. Interior needs to be freshened as there are rips in the front bench, you can see towel that I have over the bad area on driver's side. Carpet was installed when I did the motor, trans swap. The top mechanism functions, but top itself isshot and needs to be replaced. I only use on nice days, and never got around to having top replaced. There is a slightexhaust leak at the headers, they probably should be replaced. I would classify this car as a useable driver quality project. I have had a lot of fun over the years using thi, but it is time to pass along to someone else so it can get finished up and used. I took car for a good 30 plus mile drive today just because it was so nice out around where I live today.
