Car description

Not a 64 1/2, this is a 65, with alternator and 14" wheels.
Here's the story. My son bought this in 2014. The intention was for him and I to do a mild restore on this car, and I would buy a classic Mustang as well. Kinda a father and son thing. I since bought one. His health nowadays is precarious at best, so this dream is on hold while we focus on getting him healthy. His health has forced the sale of his home so he no longer will have a garage to keep this in. If we had a place to conveniently keep the car till things improve for him, we would not be selling it.
It's a good solid car and with a paint job, and a couple other little things, it could be one heck of a car. I know these cars well having driven them back in high school. Everyone raves about the 289 v8, but these 6 cylinder, 200ci (3.3 ltrs.) are bulletproof engines, dependable, and last forever with their 7 main bearings.
Built in San Jose, Spent it's life in So. California till 2014, when my son bought it and shipped it to Florida. Stock car. Best we can tell original interior, carpet and headliner. Seats are untorn and pliable but some seam stitching has failed at corners. Should be able to remove covers and spot re-stitch and reinstall. New windshield, new rubber glass seals front and rear. newly professionally rebuilt original Autolite carburetor with thermal choke. Newer fuel pump. New wires, plugs, points and cap. Runs good for a 51 year old engine but could be much better. compression very good, almost at spec. Has exhaust leak at exhaust manifold gasket till engine warms up. I would suggest valve job when replacing mani gasket. Typical engine oil drip at front crank seal. Small trans fluid leak at shift shaft seal. We have o-ring kit to repair trans fluid leak. No leak at trans pan or rear trans seal. Good brakes and newer tires still 60% or more tread. Brake hoses replaced 2014.
The VIN and evidence tell the car was originally yellow. The poppy red repaint was professionally and extensively done on all surfaces where there is color and is very very old. I suspect a dealer maybe did it, maybe even prior to first sale? The car is straight, the doors, trunk, and hood open and close as they were intended. There are patches of primer showing (not rust), paint is fair most places. Some checking, chips, cracks and gouges. It needs a complete paint job. Again, the ruddy patches you see within the painted areas are primer showing from below, not rust.
NO major RUST!
2 small rust holes front lower outer corner doors (typical), small rustout hole rain gutter forward of wing windows 1 or 2 sides (I can't remember), about size of large pea.. Solid floors, excellent towers and rails. Excellent apron. Excellent no leak no clog cowl (we have tested it). No rust in fenders or qtr panels. No rust in wheel houses. No rust in trunk. Some very light surface rust on interior driver's door surface (top most area) where arm would be at rest with window down. Newer gas tank.
Original bumpers and other trim (far as we know). door mirror replaced with Scott Drake quality mirror. We removed front and rear window garnish to install new rubber glass seals and clips, was gonna paint, so trim not reinstalled but all pieces are good and in the trunk. Original jack, spare hold down, and ratcheting lug tool included. Dash is uncut at radio. Original am radio doesn't work. Everything else does work including heater and blower and blend box. Instrument cluster bezel and lens replaced.
Odometer says 31088, please disregard, I am sure it is 131088 or more.
This is my son's car but I work on it, so the above comments are from my own knowledge and experience with this car. I am sure some things have been inadvertently left out, so please ask ANY questions you may have.
We have lots of photos and can supply any photo of any area of importance to you. I don't deal in dishonesty, lies, or exaggerations, I leave that for the other guys. Please don't hesitate to ask for any additional info or pictures, it will be my pleasure to get you the answers.
My wife hopes it will sell soon, because if it doesn't, it may end up in my garage alongside my 66.
We are hoping to put a video up on the major website for this car and will update this listing with a link asap.
We are in Atlantic Beach, FLA 32233
Thank you.
