Car description

Early Mustangs are the universal collector car, beloved by all and a lot of fun to own. And despite that huge popularity, cars like this 1966 Ford Mustang convertible remain eminently affordable. With V8 power, period A/C, and a fantastic color combination, this is the one you've always wanted to own.Wearing traditional Wimbledon White paint, this Mustang convertible has movie star looks that have been popular for decades. You've seen a lot of tired old Mustangs running around, and this most certainly is NOT one of them. Body gaps are very good, the surface finish of the paint is holding up well for being several years old, and it feels far more substantial than you'd expect from a 50-year-old ragtop. It's just the right shade of white, too, not too bright but soft and creamy like the very first Mustang off the assembly line and although not perfect, it still looks great all these years later. Despite the preponderance of modified Mustangs running around, this one remains true to its original specs, including the '289' badges on the front fenders, which it comes by honestly. The chrome bumpers are in excellent shape, probably new when the car was repainted, while the inserts in the C-scoops on the quarters are probably original and in decent condition.Black is also this car's original interior color, and it wears standard upholstery that was probably replaced when the car was restored a few years ago. The monochromatic Mustang interior makes for a very upscale look that's very 1960s with bright stainless and chrome trim to make it bright. All 1966 Mustangs got the 1965 GT's 5-gauge instrument panel and there's dealer-installed A/C under the dash which still blows cold. There's a newer replacement AM/FM/cassette head unit with speakers in the door panels and in case you didn't realize, Mustangs were the first domestic production car with seat belts as standard equipment. Black carpets are protected by a set of floor mats and the door panels are mostly painted, like they were when they were new, with the driver's door showing a little wear where you might rest your elbow. A white convertible top is in good shape with a clear rear window but on a Mustang ragtop, you're probably never going to see it anyway because it'll live its entire life stashed under the matching black boot. The trunk includes a full-sized spare tire, and it's worth investing in a reproduction mat to make it look finished, an inexpensive upgrade that pays big dividends. There's a correct C-code 289 cubic inch V8 under the hood and it runs as well as any other Ford small block. Except for a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, it remains as the factory intended so it purrs quietly at idle but has authoritative torque out on the road. The underhood look is tidy and clean, with Ford Blue on the valve covers and a chrome air cleaner up top, while most of the other parts are satin black, as they should be. The A/C compressor dominates the upper engine, and upgrades include a dual reservoir master cylinder for the power brakes and a new radiator up front. The C4 3-speed automatic transmission has quick shifts and an easy demeanor, and there are easy-cruising 3.00 gears out back, so it feels quick and light on its feet but never gets annoying. Shiny chrome wire hubcaps were a popular option and sit inside a set of 205/75/14 whitewall radials for a perfect summertime look. This is the Mustang you've always wanted, great colors, V8 power, and nice options, all priced right and ready to go. Don't wait, call now!
