Car description

Bidding is for a 1966 Ford Mustang coupe. It has the 289 V8, 4 automatic, ower steering, inyl top, nd pony interior. This Mustang was purchased new by Ms. Geneva Shelton on October 2, 965 at Chaffee Motors in Hawthorne, alifornia. Ms. Shelton owned this Mustang and it stayed in the Los Angeles area for approximately 40 years until she passed away and left the car to her granddaughter, ho brought the car to New Mexico. I bought it from her granddaughter in 2007 and commenced restoration. The car was not in terrible condition and was always kept up mechanically, ut it needed a full cosmetic restoration. Today, his is a beautiful classic Mustang that draws lots of attention wherever it goes.Fortunately, s. Shelton saved pretty much every piece of paper having to do with this car. I have the original sales contract from Chaffee Motors showing that the original purchase price was $3,3,46. Ms. Shelton kept all the maintenance receipts back to day one, rganized by decade in a folder. The car still has the original owner's manual in the glove box. The black California license plates that are original to this car and the license plate frames were professionally restored. For California buyers, hese plates would be useable if the car were to go back to California. I have all the restoration receipts totaling many thousands of dollars. I also have several old pictures of the car when it was new. THE MUSTANG: RESTORATION AND CONDITIONAfter 40 years of use, his old Mustang needed a complete refreshening. I jumped at the chance to buy this car not only because it was a fully documented one-owner California car, ut also because it was complete and original with very little rust. The only rust was in the lower corners of the doors and in the quarter panels behind the rear wheels, hich is common for these cars. The underside has not been cleaned and detailed, ut there's no rust in the floors, rame rails, tc. I took the car to a professional body shop where it was completely stripped to bare metal a few dents were pulled out, nd the small areas of rust in the doors and quarters were cut out and replaced with welded patches. All the glass was removed. The car was then primered, lock sanded, nd painted with DuPont Chromabase base coat/clear coat paint. The color is a 1971-72 Corvette color called Steel Cities Gray metallic... it's a beautiful gray/green color that's very close to the original color of Sage Green, ust a little more interesting. I left the original paint inside the trunk, nd it looks like it's the same color but older. I get lots of compliments on the color. All of the bumpers, mblems, rim, nd weatherstrip are new. The wheels are reproduction styled steel wheels with dual redline radials. The tires are actually BF Goodrich Radial TA's with the redlines added by Diamondback tires. The original wheels and hubcaps will go with the car. This car originally had the optional deluxe pony interior. The seat covers and foam, oor panels, ash pad, eadliner, nd carpet are all new, n two-tone black and parchment color. The seatbelts were re-webbed. I used extra insulation under the carpet to keep down the noise and heat. The original woodgrain steering wheel was professionally restored. The original AM radio was replaced with a reproduction AM/FM unit with MP3 controls, nd high quality JL Audio speakers were installed in the original location in the dash and hidden in the package tray in the rear to provide modern sound with original appearance. A reproduction rally-pack was installed. Mechanically, he car was in good shape but it did need some work. The engine runs great with no problems; I believe it was rebuilt by the original owner. The transmission shifts smoothly. I had the original two barrel carburetor professionally restored, nd when I detailed the engine compartment I added a new Ford Motorcraft battery and new alternator, ater pump, nd fuel pump. The car still has the original California smog system installed and working. The suspension was completely rebuilt with new bushings, YB shocks, ear leaf springs, nd roller bearing front spring saddles. The car has a new custom dual exhaust which sounds great, mooth and very quiet with just a slight rumble when you step on the gas. This is a gorgeous classic Mustang. The color combination with the black top and two tone interior really set it off. It runs and drives great, nd it's a lot of fun to drive. It's a great driver/local show car as it is now, r someone could detail the underside to take it to the next level. I'm selling it only to move on to the next project! There are lots of old Mustangs out there, ut very few fully documented California cars.SALEPlease ask all questions before bidding, will do my best to answer them. Bid with confidence; I guarantee this Mustang to be as described. Inspections welcomed in the Albuquerque, M area. Car is sold with a clean and clear New Mexico title in seller's name. I can store the car for a reasonable time and can help coordinate shipping. I will work with international buyers. $500 non-refundable deposit required with 48 hours of auction close, alance due within 10 days. Wire transfer or cashiers check accepted. Good luck!
