Car description

Looking for a sporty, riginal, ow-mileage car from the 70's? This Maverick has the fastback styling of the musclecar era, ut is easy on a gallon of gas. With only around 65K miles, ou'll be slipping back in time re-living the fun of a simpler day. You won't have to deal with computers or sensors going crazy. You won't have to establish a big rebuild/restoration budget either. This car is much the same as it was in 1977. Remember comfortable seats? You'll think you are in your living room chair when driving this car. Power steering, M-FM radio, nd air-conditioning make the drive that much nicer. This is a car that you can maintain yourself too, ith relatively little expense from year to year. The car has 5 mph bumpers, hereby bumpers return to their original position if impacted at slow speed. The car has cool features too like the swing-out little quarter windows for those in the back seat.

History: I bought this car ten years ago from the original owner's family. It had been in a garage, nd had 17,560 miles on the odometer. It appeared to me that the car was essentially the way Ford put it together in 1977 except for the battery and muffler. Amazing. Of course, ome of the local shops and I had some work to do to get the car serviceable, ut I kept the majority of parts removed for historical reference, r for a future owner who might want to re-establish matching/date-code components.

Maintenance: The fuel system, rake system, luids, ilters, nd air-conditioner required attention prior to putting the car on the road. During the years that followed, had the car repainted the factory silver metallic using the modern base/clear paints. Installed new muffler, esonator, nd tailpipe (1/2 the exhaust is still original). Replaced the tires. Did the AC again later at Classic Auto Air, ut this time changed the hoses, tc. and converted to R134 refrigerant. More recently the car has received new rotors, alipers, nd discs in the front. New tires again, his time Hankook with white sidewalls. New radiator.

Wear: Some small chips and bubbles in the paint. Vinyl roof is still original, ut weathering. There is a very small dent in the right front headlight bezel. The front shoulder safety belts were cut by the original owner (many people hated these when they came out), owever the belts are still in the car. All lap seat belts are fine. (The seat belt buzzer still works as does the buzzer for opening the car with the key in the ignition.) The dash pad has a separation, hich can be covered or repaired. The right-side windshield does allow some drops of water to enter during a hard rain. I spoke to a windshield company. They said if I obtained the gasket/seal and molding clips, hey could install for $80.

Condition: The car overall is excellent - inside, utside, nderneath. The photos were taken 10/3/15 at Picnic Island Beach in Tampa, L. The car is fully operational. Everything on the dash works. The car retains its original suspension - even the shocks are original - as are a number of items under the hood like the spark plug wires, hich are numbered from Ford. You can see in the photos the original stickers are still on the engine from when Ford installed it.

Available for new ownership: I actually meant to keep this car about five years, ut have had it for 10+. It drives nice. I get the enjoyment of driving a more interesting car that's easy to park, conomical, nd has the comforts that I like. For those who also like this Maverick, et's discuss. I prefer e-mail exchanges initially. I even promise to try to be understanding if you are looking to install a V8 for more excitement.

Car purchase is "As Is" with no warrantee or guarantee.
