Car description

1959 Fiat Abarth 750 Allemano SpyderCarlos Abarth. the creator of Abarth cars. seems to have had a very successful and deliberate strategy. Race cars over 2 litres were dominated by Ferrari. Maserati. Aston. Jaguar and others. The under 2 litre world was far less competitive. Carlos Abarth seems to have made a determined effort to concentrate on this piece of the racing world. He totally dominated it. His cars won more world championships than any other manufacturer. including Ferrari. The Fiat Abarths were an interesting marriage. It allowed Fiat to have a performance car in their catalogue and it allowed Abarth to build cars without shouldering all the production. All of the 750cc models use a Fiat 600 engine. gearbox. floor pan and suspension. Abarth stripped the engines and rebuilt them using his competition parts creating a nearly 100% increase in horse power. 22hp to 43hp. 43 hp was enough to make this 1. 00lb car dominant in its racing class. Bodies were made by either Zagato (coupes) or Allemano (spyders). They were very successful race cars in the 1950's and 60's. Once Abarth had finished with the cars they went to Allemano or Zagato to be bodied. Allemano was a small Italian Coachbuilder (Carrozzorria) located in Turin. Italy. Their most famous cars were probably the Maserati A6G Allemano (21 made) or the Maserati 5000GT (22 made). Both very handsome cars. The Fiat Abarth Allemanos were the most numerous and successful cars they built. Production is believed to been around 750. This Abarth Allemano Spyder racing in the early 1960's. Probably up in the Wisconsin - Chicagoland area. The original roll bar comes with the car. The car is race ready with lots of spares. VHP. I believe. stands for Vintage H-Production. H Production would be 750cc car. stripped to the bare for racing. nbsp;with a production engine installed. Correct original gauges and steering wheel. Cool pop-out door handles. The Zagato cars use the same. Similar to 300SL Gullwings. Notice that it has its original Abarth air cleaner. Very rare. Daniel: 203-778-2601 I am not sure if the engine is matching number. but it is right in the same production time period as the chassis number. See the photos below for all the original road equipment. This is an early car with the small bumpers. Delicate and attractive. Original racing wheels. Notice they have been strengthened. It looks like the strengthening is designed to stop the rim from flexing under pressure. The floors are in excellent rustfree condition.
