Car description

This mid-engine Bertone X1/9 is a presentable driver with only 22,673 miles on it. It is the later version with the 1500 cc fuel-injected, electronic ignition engine and 5-speed transaxle. This one is equipped with leather upholstery, power windows, and A/C. It starts, runs, drives, steers, and brakes nicely and reliably as you would expect from a car with such low mileage. The car is currently registered, licensed, and insured in Illinois with a clear, unencumbered title. It is available for inspection in Springfield, Illinois.I am the third owner, and I've put about 1500 miles on it in the two years I've owned it. The second owner put about 8000 miles on it between 2011 and 2016. New Michelin tires with 90,000 mile non-transferable warranty were fitted 10/2012 at 18,225 miles. I have maintenance receipts from the second and third ownership. The good things about the car are:- it has less than 23,000 miles on it!! Mileage subject to slight increase as I continue to use the car during the course of this auction.- presentable driver quality overall interior and exterior appearance of the car as I have tried to show in the high-resolution photos; lower body color is kind of a rootbeer color, and the upper color is somewhat champagne (beige?) color, and the removable targa top is to match the upper body color- good clutch and gear-shifting action; no balking or popping out of any forward or reverse gear; good synchros- good brakes with solid pedal- radio, power windows, instruments, and headlight lift mechanisms work- good glass and trim, mirrors; good shut lines with no evidence of collision damage- no rust at windshield base; no structural rust at the strut towers; these are areas where X1/9s frequently develop rust- nice dash with no cracks or scars- comfortable leather upholstery, although seats have some scuffing on the bolster edge, and the passenger seat back has a tear- no aftermarket hop-ups or modifications; the engine, intake system, exhaust system, suspension, and body are all original or original configuration; the '80s vintage radio may even be original or dealer-installedThe bad things about the car are:- the A/C is non-operational although the heat and fan ventilation work- the left outer CV joint rubber boot is torn and should be replaced- there are numerous imperfections to the body paint in the form of scratches, blurred clearcoat, and small dings (see photo of scratches on rear trunk lid)- there is surface rust on several edges of body panels and the underside of the car; there is rust perforation in the bottoms of rear fenders under the rear bumper (see photos) and in the wells at each end of the rear trunk; this rust is not jeopardizing the main structure of the car, and the strut towers, main unibody framework, and suspension mounting locations are solid- the radio antenna doesn't raise and lower under its own powerPlease feel free to come inspect this car and see it in operation. I am retired, so could be available most times to schedule a time to show the car.
