The final iteration of a 15-year old design was from 1986 to 1989. This classic Fioravanti/Pininfarina shape has aged gracefully, while the performance is still engaging today. The 328 produces 270hp and weighs just under 2,800lbs. These are still affordable vintage Ferraris that have an iconic look and are mechanically robust for a vintage Italian sports car.
This Ferrari was built in September of 1986 and sold new on November 11th, 1986 by Newport Imports of Newport Beach, California. The MSRP was $70,600.
The first owner was a Mr. R. Steven Peters, a personal injury attorney from Tustin, California. It appears he kept the car for less than 10-years before it was sold to the next Southern California owner. The car remained here until 2013/35k-miles when it went to its 3rd owner in Dallas, Texas. A couple years later, it was purchased by the current Orange County collector on December 29th, 2015 with 40,509 miles. This owner has a large collection of vintage cars as well as race cars. Everything is kept in a climate controlled garage here in Orange County with a full time mechanic and driver to help maintain his collection. In the last 4-years, the car has only been driven less than 100-miles. The majority of those miles were from routine warm-up/service driving.
There are 4 service stamps in the book:
1,500-mile service on 2/3/87 at Newport Ferrari
7,500-mile service on 4/25/88 at Newport Ferrari
15,000-mile service on 8/20/90 at Newport Ferrari
22,500-mile service on 5/16/97 at Beverly Hills Ferrari
Further services as noted in Carfax:

Vehicle serviced at 31,676-miles on 6/28/2001
Vehicle serviced at 31,825-miles (approx.) on 8/30/2001
Vehicle serviced at 32,198-miles on 12/31/2001
Vehicle serviced at 33,416-miles on 3/31/2003
Vehicle serviced at 33,747-mles on 12/28/2004
Vehicle serviced at 40,433-miles on 3/05/2015
Vehicle serviced at 40,509-miles on 10/23/2015
On March 15th, 2013 at 34,840 miles, North Coast Exotics performed a 30k-mile major engine out service. This service included:
Replace timing belts and tensioner pulleys
Remove and reseal cam covers
Check and adjust valve clearances
Replace cam shaft seals
Replace distributor drive seals
Change all fluids and filters
New spark plugs
Charge/service A/C system
Clean and detail engine compartment
Road test
Furthermore, a compression test was performed and the results were even:
1) 155 2) 155 3) 145 4) 155 5) 155 6) 145 7) 150 8) 150
This Ferrari is in excellent preservation condition. The paint looks fantastic with minimal signs of use. It appears that the paint is possibly original. The paint meter readings are even. The aluminum front hood reads slightly higher due to the different metal surface, but there are no visible signs of paint work. All the trim and lenses looks great with minimal signs of wear. The glass is all original, including the windshield and all are wearing the proper factory stampings. The wheels are in great shape with no significant curb rash or blemishes. They are wearing Goodyear Eagle tires dated around 2015 with near full tread (less than 100-miles on them) and no signs of age. The front brakes are at about half-life and the rears are near full life remaining. All the exterior lights work properly.
The interior is equally as nice and shows minimal wear. The leather seats have no rips or tears and just some light wear on the driver exit bolsters. The headliner has a few slight wear spots. The carpet and door panels are all in excellent shape and show very little signs of use. The dash has no cracks. The gauges all work properly including the clock. The electric windows and side mirrors work as well. The A/C and climate control system appear to work adequately. The A/C could use a recharge as it hasn’t been used in the last 4-years. A later style radio has been added and it works as does the electric antenna.
Mechanically, this 328 feels very tight and crisp. It starts easily on the first try and holds a smooth idle. Once warmed up, the gearbox works excellently. The shifter is very direct with a smooth engagement through the gates. The clutch engages properly. The throttle response is immediate with decent low-end torque. Power is strong through the rev range with no hesitation. The steering feels light and responsive with the right amount of weight to it. The brakes have a decent bite with no fading or pulling. Despite not being driven much, it is evident that it was properly warmed up and exercised on a regular basis.
This 328 GTS passes California’s strict emissions test and is a California legal example.
This Ferrari comes with 2-sets of keys, original owner’s manuals with leather cover, original service booklet with stamps, original/complete tool kit, original jack with cover, Ferrari emergency battery charger, space saver spare tire, and original MSRP window sticker.
