Productionwas hardly linear or sequential. Chassis F102AB *18227* was specifically production number240 of 387 but sequentially by chassis number assignment the242nd of the 387 examples built. This particular Ferrari 365GT4/BB was special ordered new by AutoBecker in Germany on behalf of a client. The orderrequested a Rosso Corsa vehiclewith lower "Black Boxer" trim and a standard black leather interior. The only optionsrequested were a multi-band Pioneer stereo radio and ZF limited slipdifferential. This is a very early and more desirableSeries III example. It was the 5th of just 149 Series III 365GT/4 BB Boxers completed. These all featureda variety ofimprovements and refinements that solved and sorted out the earlier design issues and flaws of those built previously. Mostnoticeably was animprovement in handling and braking as well as overall reliability.Chassis F102AB *18227* was assembled and assigned engine sequence No. 250 with "Numero Interno" case numbers 123and individually stamped withengine No. "F102A000 *00254*" which it retains to this day. The gearbox assigned was No."ZF228" which further confirms it was fitted from new with a ZFlimited slip differential which it still retains to this day. A closeand extremely comprehensive inspection and evaluation of this Ferrari has just beencompleted and it confirms that itremains in the original delivery configuration today as sold new with the original color combination as well as the original"matching numbers" engine and gearbox.Chassis *18227* was assembled in the late Fall, arly Winter of 1974 and delivered new to AutoBecker by truck in earlyJanuary of 1975. After being sold, twas road registered in Germany later that month and remained so until 1977 when itwas sold again by AutoBecker and exported to Japan where it waspurchased by another Authorized Ferrari Agent, ornesMotors Ltd. of Tokyo, apan.On arrival and customs clearance in Japan in June of 1977, his Ferrari had covered 19,100 kilometers. In July of that sameyear, apanese RoadRegistration Authorities assigned the vehicle the Japanese control number 43 7219 and issued it newJapanese title and road registration with plates "399-5941."This Ferrari Boxer would remain un-driven and on display and offered for sale by Cornes Motors for the next twelve years untilit was sold on March 14th,1989 to Mr. Kazuai Umemura's Private Museum Collection.Japanese DMV records confirm that on January 11th, 012, otal recorded mileage was now 35,300. A year and a half lateron July 30th, 014, otal mileagewas recorded as 35,400. On September 18th, 015 the date of our purchase and thecancellation of the Japanese road registration, otal mileage was35,550 kilometers. (22,000 miles.)This is a completely rust and accident free example that retains all of the rare early Ferrari 365BB features that sets theseexamples far and apart from thelater production 512BB and 512BBi models. The original and correct "Mushroom" seats, correctly part numbered ANSA "Tripple-Tip" exhaust system, ard"headliner" with sun shades unique CromodoraMagnesium/Alloy 7.5 inch front and 9 inch rear wheels are just a few of these features.Chassis No. F102AB *18227* is also an extremely original "survivor" with a completely original and never restored interior aswell as most of the originalpaint with only the lower "Boxer" trim black areas showing signs of a repaint. All date coded itemssuch as the original KONI shocks front and rear still havethe correct 1974 assembly date codes. Other than the more modernradio and cooling system expansion tank, t would very hard to near impossible to find amore correct original or lowermileage surviving example.More than 100 high resolution inspection photos and additional recordsdocuments and details related to this vehicle can be accessed by contacting me at:billATbillnoonDOTcomor by phone at619 840 7811Please feel free to contact to arrange for inspections and test drives.
