Car description

1962 Dodge Dart

No Reserve!

I’m selling my 1962 Dodge Dart, slant 6, 3-speed manual on the column. She runs and drives great, and has been my daily driver for just over 2 years now. Everything works on the car except the gas gauge and radio (it’s an aftermarket radio from the 1980s I’d say). She’s a great car, get’s lots of looks and compliments. You either love or hate the style, it seems nothing automotive made past 1975 has had near the imagination put into the design.

The body is really quite solid, the paint is nice and shiny, although not perfect. Originally the car was white, but was repainted some time past and it’s held up well. There are a few minor rust bubbles on the bottoms of both front doors as seen in the photos, but none are present anywhere else on the car, including the rockers and quarters. The floors are soft in a few areas, but the trunk floor is solid. The trim around the rear window is MIA, it was unintentionally released into space on a road trip without my knowledge. (“Huh, when did that fall off?”) All other trim and brightwork is present and accounted for.

Mechanically, she’s great. In the past 2 years I have completely replaced the brake system, including a new master cylinder, all 4 wheel cylinders, new rear drums, and all new hoses. Also a full tuneup, new carburetor, coil, thermostat, new rear axles, and just this past June new front wheel bearings and seals. Lastly, a new set of black walls (tires) May of 2018. I’ve taken her on several road trips, plus the day to day driving and she is most capable.

The interior is decent, I’ve just replaced the door panels and seats with those from a fancier Dart 440 model that were in better shape than the originals. I’ve still got the originals if you want them. The carpet is old and the headliner could use replacing-it’s got some holes. The interior is completely useable as is-I find it perfect for everyday use.

I love old cars, especially older “Forward Look” era MoPars, and normally drive an oldie as an everyday driver for about a year before switching to another. (so many cool cars and just one driver!) However, this one has been especially fun, so I’ve kept her 2 years now. I’m just about to get another one roadworthy and it’s time for ‘Sapphire’ the Dart to go. These “downsized” full size cars for 1962 really make excellent daily drivers, especially with the slant 6.

Anyways, I really could go on and on (just ask my wife!) Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm just north of Macon, Georgia, right off of I-75. The listing states a "clear title" as there were no other good options: Georgia does not issue titles for cars this old, so it will be sold on a bill of sale. This shouldn't be a problem, as the car is registered, tagged, and insured in my name.

Please bid responsibly, these auctions cost time and money. I've got her for sale locally, so I may pull the auction if it sells. Thanks for looking! Pete
