1974 DODGE DART SPORT 360

You are considering this 1974 Dodge Dart Sport, a life long Arizona-native that was pulled out of the middle of the High Desert in Kingman AZ.

This car was literally buried in the sand for 25+ years and still wears most of the original KT5 Sienna Poly paint it left the factory with.

This is an extremely unique and unusual Mopar Muscle Car that has been tastefully upgraded and modernized. The car was built to appeal to the Mopar purist and modern day collectors looking for something that will turn heads and not break the bank while being a useable and enjoyable A Body screamer!

The body is 100% original sheetmetal and I would say 85% original paint with the addition of an original style over the roof Sport stripe that was painted on in base coat with Matte clear. I added 1970 style hard to find chrome racing mirrors because I prefer them to the 72-74 style.

The only rust on the whole car is behind the drivers side rear wheel. The only reason it rusted was a cheep 1/4" drive socket set dumped down the quarter extension 25-30 years ago and rusted trapped inside the quarter panel and the trunk extension. (Extension is perfect)

The underside of the car is simply amazing. The desert sand just preserved and cleaned it beautifully. To start this build a late model 5.9L Magnum 360 C.I. V8 was soured due to it incorporating full roller canmshaft, lifters and valve train along with modern heads that flow better to replace the tired old LA style 318.

The 5.9 was rebuilt with the addition of a Bullet racing cam shaft with 218/226 @ .050 .525 lift for a great muscle car rumpity rump idle, amazing torque curve and upper end horsepower.

Hughes engines high lift valve springs alow the roller rockers to take full advantage of the potent camshaft.

A Mopar Performance M1 aluminum intake manifold topped with a new Edelbrock 750 carburetor works flawlessly with the Edelbrock electric fuel pump.

An MSD style billet aluminum distributor, MSD coil and matching MSD ballast resistor work together with the Mopar Perfomance orange box to round out the high output ignition system.

The charging system incorporates a fully adjustable Heavy Duty ERCK voltage regulator to take full advantage of the 116 amp output of the new Denso alternator. I also upgraded the charging system to "parallel" as to not overheat and continue using the factory ammeter. I have completely redone the wiring harnesses throughout the entire car.

Cooling system has been completely upgraded with new water pump and 26 inch aluminum large tube radiator along with dual electric fans stealthy in cased in the original 26 inch fan shroud controlled by a Dakota digital PAC-2750 dual fan Digital controller along with dual 70 amp relays for cooling in the hottest of Arizona heat.

The A904 transmission incorporates a 2400 rpm converter and has been rebuilt utilizing all TCI and Sonax parts. A TCI Shift Kit makes for amazing firm and crisp full throttle tire barking automatic gear changes.

The interior is completely restored with 1971 style (I like the pattern better) Legendary seat covers and ACC carpet. The dashboard has been removed/rebuilt along with the gauge cluster with polished original lenses. The original dashboard is covered with a "dash-cap" for longevity in the AZ sun as this car was built to be my daily driver.

The original AC box has been restored with new Heater core, evaporator and vacuum harness. All components are tested and should only need new under hood lines made and a charge with R134 refrigerant for ice cold air conditioning!

I planned to have a local shop AZ Auto air -www.azautoair.com- to run the new Sanden a/c combuild new lines to use the Sanden compressor with the factory restored (evaporator and heater core) a/c under dash box.

Gas gauge reads 1/2 tank when full, gauge is good, added a good ground but didn't help. Faulty sender.(Has full tank of premium!)

Because the previous owner had cut the dashboard for a tape deck in the 80's I decided to add the convenience of an Alpine CD multi-media player with Bluetooth technology for hands free phone use while cruising.

The dual MB Quart 3.5" speakers in the dash and full range MB Quart 6x9's in the stock locations fill the interior nicely and sound great.

The car will be sold with the original restored steering wheel (Tuff wheel is off off of my 1970 Charger) A new headliner, very nice driver quality door panels and upper plastics were sourced to finish off the interior.

The original 7.25 rear differential was retained with only a fluid change because the car is built to be an AC on Cruiser at 75-80 MPH with its original 2.76 rear gears.

The front suspension has some new parts and is nice and tight and drives great.

I added a PST/ADDCO style bolt-on solid front sway bar that gives confidence inspiring flat cornering.

The brakes are all new with rebuilt master cylinder and brake booster, new calipers and rotors with new flex hoses and bearings. Rear brakes have been rebuilt and work great with new drums.

Correct detailing under the hood and in the trunk (needs a trunk mat and spare tire/wheel cover but does include jack assembly) along with a Legendary canopy vinyl top round out this desert rescue I lovingly refer to as "SunBURNT”

While it is scratched worn and dinged, I wanted to preserve the exterior so it could tell the tale of this beautiful Dart Sport's life. It could easily be disassembled, prepped and painted in a few short weekends if the new owner so chooses. The hard stuff has been done! It's all outside work that won't take much time or cost much money to have done and then you would definitely have a class winning show car! (If that's your thing!)

These cars are only original once and I personally love the look and it gets a ton of attention everywhere you go. Even sitting right next to a completely restored Hemi car, this Dart Sport gets more attention and questions.

It would cost the average person $25k+ to build this car (I know!!!) the way i built it.This is your chance to jump into a fresh built PatinaMopar Muscle Car that you can cruise and enjoy immediately that is guaranteed to blow people's minds when they see it! This car is a conversation starter like no other! This is not a common car, it definitely will not be lost in the sea of Corvettes, Camaros, Novas, Chevelles and Mustangs at every car show you go to!

These modern touches have been perfectly blended with late 60's and early 70's era additions for a 340/360 A Body inspired look with more Horsepower and torque than a 340 and the reliability of a modern car.

This is a fresh built car that has very few shake down miles on it, some final tuning for optimal performance and she will really scream! (Pulls hard now!)

Driving the car from my garage to your house will be your choice, I personally would trailer it but if you so decide the car should be amazing, comfortable and really eat up the open road!
