Carryover or Antenna Car

1993 Dodge Viper " Carryover" or "Antenna Car" Only 5572 Original miles, very clean, runs great, passes emissions testing, very fast. Very Collectable as there were only 500 made and today considered the Best Viper ever made.

Seems last time around there were top bidders who for lack of better words, flaked out. Winning bidder said he didn't mean to bid but somehow his hand decided to click bid and then enter amount, One asked if he can have time to get a loan after first guy flaked. Others put phone numbers in emails and wanted to go outside Ebay, many offers to trades. I'm selling Viper, it's a straight up deal, Viper is priced very well and will only go up in value. Recent services: Oil change and spark plus and 2 K&N air filters, Tires are dated early 2000 and are showing wear from storage dry rot due to soft compound. Tire size's; Fronts Michellin XGTZ Directional 375/40/ZR17, Rears (Same Michellin's) 335/35ZR17. There is a small one inch scratch on drivers door is easy touch-up. Runs excellent, passes emission testing ever year, I have top and windows, glass, cases etc, there is a small 4 " square tear in canvas that a RV or Boat shop can easily fix, I never put top on as it looks stupid and takes away from looks and I'd never drive in rain or bad weather. It goes to a car show now and then, hence the low low millage.

** Tires: I'd prefer Pirelli P-Zero's or Nitto DOT Speed rated tires, harder compounds hold the road at speed vs soft compounds that dry rot fast and are sloppy at speed. So the buyer can get what is best for them. It's trade off, softer ride and spongy handling at speed vs harder compounds have harder ride but handle far better when you feel the need..the need for speed. And their all in same price range, but Michelin does not make the original replacement front tire size today, You loose half inch in height and I'd rather have the size they made for this car, It was built for that tire sizing ft and rear. Nitto'd and Prellie P-Zero's have factor sizes in stock.

History: First Generation Viper RT/10 Roadster (1992-'95)

The Viper went on sale1992 at $55,630 plus a $1750 Fuel Tax Fee, it first appeared in public at the 1991 Indianapolis 500. Originally Dodge had agreed to supply the Dodge Stealth R/T as the pace car for the 74th running of the Memorial Day classic and that 300-hp, twin-turbocharged, all-wheel-drive coupe was more than capable of handling the job. But then someone mentioned that the Stealth R/T was in fact a re-dressed Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 and assembled in Japan. An uproar of sorts then ensued — American cars had always paced the race and a lot of Indy fans didn't want to see a Japanese car taking that job. So Dodge pulled the Stealth R/T off pacing duties and quickly cobbled together a prototype Viper to pace the race that year. So it's that prototype Viper RT/10 that Carroll Shelby piloted at the start of the 500 in 1991 and it's that car that currently resides (and will likely forever reside) in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's museum. Another fun fact is that Dodge owned Lamborghini for a very very shot period. They used V10's in big trucks in Europe. But they needed a huge design change to put into a street car. That very short window allowed the Viper to be created.

The Exhaust- Outfitted with side-outlet exhaust plumbing gave the engineers fits. They couldn't tune in a melodious note and meet the federal 80-decibel noise limit. So the Viper sounds oddly like a UPS truck up to 3,000 rpm, then it just roars like God's own Dust buster."

Dodge didn't touch the Viper in any significant way for April 4th, 1993 except for new colors, the addition of air-conditioning to the options list and a few tweaks like integrating the radio antenna into the windshield.

The "Antenna Car" or "Carry Over" did not offer AC and the antenna is mounted on left rear fender and NO Badging on lower hood quarter panels or rear bumper and Red was the only color offered before 04/04/9, You could go back and have Aftermarket AC installed and badging put on. Chrysler was in a hurry to fill orders and wanted these Carryovers out to fill prepaid orders.

The vin numbers (last 3) denotes the production # of that limited run of 500 and some suggest a max of 600 made. The Carry-over was to fix issues on first production run of only 85 or so. They ask people not to refund their orders and they will get the fix sorted out. The "Carry Over" was considered "first production" and the 2nd productions were dated on 04/04/93 were considered the second run ... and offering all Vipers with standard Factory installed AC and antenna moved to rear view mirror. Making any Antenna Car or Carry over is a limited run of 500 or a max 600. And the last 3 of VIN # denotes that cars number in limited run. This is 185 of 500 (or perhaps 600 max).

I've read where the early first generation vipers front brake calipers were black high temp coated with engraved white lettering Viper and specs stated the 2nd generation April 4th 1994 and after did not have logo brake calipers, not 100% on this but seems to be the case when I see 94, 95 Vipers.

All tubed framed high performance suspension, No door handles, No Roll up windows, No Badging, just a red sexy, very fast car.
