1979 Li'l Red Express Truck!
1979 Dodge LI'L RED EXPRESS TRUCK
With Only 3,184 ORIGINAL Miles!
Original Family Owned

You are viewing a privately owned 1979 Dodge D150 "Li'l Red Express Truck"!
Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with the presentation and listing of this outstanding original "Survivor" vehicle.
You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner. The current owner's mother purchased this truck new from Junction Auto Sales in Chardon, Ohio.
She drove the truck in several local parades during the Chardon Maple Festival. Upon retiring in 2001, she sold the truck to a close family
friend who was also a retired mechanic from the original dealership, Junction Auto Sales, and had begged her for years to sales him the truck.
In 2013 he became ill and sold the truck to the current owner who is the son of the original owner. He wanted the truck to stay in the same family.
The odometer on this rare and unique vehicle is currently showing 3,184 original miles. (1 of 5,118 Produced)
These Li'l Red trucks do not come up for sale very often especially in this original condition from the original family.
They are usually sold at high end auction events where you would pay an extra 10% commission on top of the hammer price.
Not here. NO extra fees! This is your opportunity to add a blue chip collector vehicle to your auto collection.
Don't miss your chance to become one of the fortunate.
We will describe and go over the vehicle. Please read the detailed description and view all of the 103 pictures listed below.
We can honestly say that this vehicle looks better in person then it does in the photos.
Would you buy a car on ebay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO.
That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction.
Bid with confidence!

1979 Li'l Red Express Truck
Body & Paint: Looking at the vehicle, it's hard believe this is still the original paint. Despite the age of the paint, the factory "Medium Canyon Red" (Code: PY3450) paint is holding up very well and looks very good. There is NO cracking, checking, or hazing anywhere on the vehicle. A quick buffing and detailing job would make this paint shine a lot better if someone wants to take it to the next level. The body is very straight with all the correct original panel gaps. The owner only pointed out one very minor ding in the front fender. (We didn't see it.) We are sure it could be removed by one of those "paintless dent companies" if someone desires. There are no rust issues and there has never been any body work or repairs done to the body. It still retains the original gold "Li'l Red Express Truck" decals which are in excellent condition. (An extra NOS set of these decals are also included with the truck.)
Truck Bed: The original side Oak wood trim pieces are all in great shape and hasn't been refinished. (It is missing one chrome bolt. See photo #31.) The wood trim still has the golden color and hasn't turned gray. There is a hard locking fiberglass bed cover installed onto the truck. It was painted to match the original body color and looks great. The bed floor still has the original Pine wood boards that were treated with red oxide paint from the factory. Yes, that is how they came. There is also another set of floor bed boards (black) that came with the truck from the factory. Not sure why. Maybe Dodge was getting complaints that the pine wood wasn't holding up on the dealership lots.??
Chrome & Trim: All of the chrome and stainless trim pieces are original and haven't been replated. The chrome bumpers are in excellent condition with no scratches, pits or dulling. The rest of the chrome items are in the same condition with no issues. The two original chrome exhaust stacks are flawless and look new. The both side view mirrors are great along with the chrome door handles. The front aluminum grille is excellent with only a few very minor light scratches and dings. The headlight bezels and taillight housings show zero wear or issues. All Li'l Red Express trucks came with the "Adventure" trim package. The rubber door jam weatherstripping is good and is not cracking or dry rotted.
Interior: The original black interior is in new condition, near perfect. The seats, door panels, arm rests and carpet all show very well with no wear, rips, holes, or burn marks. The truck is equipped with the optional Bucket seats with center fold down armrest/console. Some other options are: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Multiplex Stereo Radio, and factory Clock. (The clock is not currently working.) When the air conditioning was used last summer, it was working fine and blowing cold. (An extra can of R12 type freon is included with the sale if it is ever needed.) The instrument panel, dash pad, and four spoke steering wheel all look awesome. There are no cracks, scratches or wear marks. The factory gauges look good and are all working with the only exception being the fuel gauge. The fuel gauge is temperamental and most likely is the float in the fuel tank. All other electrical items are all in working order. (Lights, Turn Signals, Wipes, Horn, Radio, and Heater.)
Glass: All of the glass pieces are original including the windshield and they all have the original coding/logo markings. The windshield is in great condition with no chips, stone nicks or wiper marks. Speaking of wipers, even the windshield wipes are still original to the vehicle. The black rubber seals around the front and rear windows look great without and cracking or weathering. The side windows roll up and down without any problems or issues.
Wheels & Tires: The wheels and tires are completely stock and still original. Yes, the tires are still original. These Goodyear GT Radial raised outline tires look in great condition. (That being said, I wouldn't trust driving too fast on 40 year old tires.) Even though the vehicle has 3,184 miles, these wheels/tires were removed and placed in storage and have only around 300 miles on them. In '79, the Li'l Red truck came with the same size tires in the front and rear. Size: LR60x15 These tires are still mounted on the original factory 15x8 chrome wheels. The wheels are in excellent condition along with the chrome center cap and lug nuts. The spare tire/wheel is mounted on the underside of the truck bed area. It is the same as the four other factory wheels. It is in good condition, but not as nice as the four on the truck. (Some pitting and oxidation.)
Engine Compartment: The original 360 cubic inch 4bbl V8 high performance engine still sits under the hood. With 3,184 miles, the engine runs and sounds great. The compartment is original looking. It still has all the original stickers, markings, hoses, wires, clamps, and fasteners. It could be cleaned and detailed a little without jeopardizing the originality of the vehicle. All the Li'l Reds came with special chrome dual-snorkel air cleaners and chrome valve covers.
See the "Mechanical" section below for more details on what was done to the vehicle.
Chassis - Frame & Undercarriage: The chassis is original and has not been restored. It's easy to restore something and make it look nice and shiny. The chassis is 40 years old and has been driven on the road over those 40 years. We believe that if someone wants to spend a little time to wipe down and detail the underside of this truck, it wouldn't detracted from the originality. The current owner elected not to do anything that may jeopardized the integrity of a 3,184 mile vehicle.
Mechanical: Engine-Transmission-Rear End:
Even though this original High Performance 360CID power plant has only 3,184 the oil has been changed every year. It still has the original spark plugs, wires, and hoses. The factory carburetor has been gone over and rebuilt. The original fuel pump was replaced. (The owner has the original fuel pump in a box and will go with the truck.) The original battery was replaced a few years ago. The truck runs great and doesn't tick or smoke. Bolted to the engine is the factory A-727 3-Speed automatic transmission. The trans shifts out nice without any problems or issues. It does have some slight fluid seepage most likely from not being driven that often. The power is being delivered to the road via the stock 3.55:1 ratio 9 1/4" Dana style rear differential. No known problems or noises with the rear end. Not sure if the chrome differential cover is stock or was upgraded.
Brakes:
The vehicle is equipped with factory power brakes. (Disc brakes in front and drums in rear.) The front received new calipers, pads along with new rubber brake lines. (The original calipers were saved.) The rear drums were inspected and adjusted. The brakes fluid was flushed and replaced. They are all working great. They do not pulsate, fade, or pull. The parking brake has been adjusted and is working fine also.
Suspension:
The stock suspension is in good condition. Four new shocks were installed. (Have the original shocks.) The vehicle has power steering and is working great with no known problems. The truck still has a nice factory stance and sits up well.
Exhaust:
The complete exhaust system is still all original. The catalytic converts, mufflers, and chrome 2.5" diameter twin stacks. There are no holes or weak areas in the system. The exhaust looks and sounds great coming from the iconic stacks. The chrome stack decorative guards look great with no pits, dents, scratches, or oxidation.
Paperwork & Manuals: Remember, the current owner's mother purchased this truck new. He has a lot of that original paperwork including warranty papers, and new vehicle preparation inspection sheet. The original owner's manual(s) are still in the glove box. The "Holy Grail" Build Sheet was found by the current owner a few years ago. It was tucked up between that transmission and floor pan. With very low miles, its easy to see how the build sheet survived over all these years.
The truck will be sold with these extra items.: NOS set of factory "Li'l Red Express Truck" decals and stripes. Factory set of wood floor bed boards.(Black) A storage cover. All the original parts that were removed and replaced. A binder with some original paperwork.
Reserve Price: Please don't ask what the "Reserve Price" is, or if we have a "Buy it Now" price. If you like this outstanding Express Truck, please call us with an offer.
The owner will consider your offer and if they decide to accept your offer, we will end the auction early or add a "Buy it Now" price that you and them both agree on.
There is a good chance, this vehicle could be sold before the auction ends. Don't hesitate to call or wait until the last moment.

(44024 Zip Code)
Chardon is located just east of the Cleveland, Ohio area.
You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the current owner. He is the son of the original owner.
The vehicle has a free and clear Ohio title that is ready to be signed over.
The odometer is working and showing only 3,184 miles.
All of these "Li'l Red Express Trucks" came with about the same options. Determining the current value usually comes down to the mileage and over all condition. This vehicle is at the top of both of those categories along with being original family owned. When these trucks come up for sale, which is not that often, they are usually sold by dealers that have no clue on the history or what has been done to the truck. You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from a person that has been with and knows this truck from day one.
This is your opportunity to add a blue chip investment vehicle to your auto collection.
Don't miss your chance to become one of the few to own a rare and unique vehicle.
Don't be fooled when other listings talk about "original". They would say its original and then go on to say with one repaint.(What??) Remember, It's only "original" once. This truck still has all the original paint, interior, chrome, tires/wheels, drivetrain, and about 99% of the rest of the items. It would be hard to find another "Li'l Red" truck in this condition being sold by the original owner's family.
If the "Reserve Price" is not met, we will contact the highest bidder FIRST to see if we can negotiate a price.
So, make sure you place your bid, or call us with your offer. Sorry, NO TRADES!
