Car description

I am listing this 1936 Dodge Brothers D2 Sedan for my friend, the owner and builder. There really is far too much to list, but we'll try anyway. This is the nicest rebuilt example of a rare pre-war Mopar that you will ever encounter, unless you have the skills to build one yourself. The amount of time, effort, thought, and attention to detail that went into this car is unrivaled unless you can afford to pay a custom shop six figures to build one for you.
He started with a clean low owner Wisconsin car that had been in storage for over four decades. Everything was taken apart, and rebuilt from the ground up, step by step. This is where the build went from an original underpowered flathead six to a modern upgraded restomod capable of cruising at highway speeds safely and comfortably all day long.
Starting in the rear, a Chrysler 8-3/4 axle with 3.23:1 gears was located with smooth riding QA1 coilovers, a panhard bar, and ladder bars. Moving forward, a Mustang 2 style IFS kit was heavily modified to give superior handling, stance, smooth ride, and on your toes stopping ability. A manual steering rack provides effortless and responsive steering. The chassis rides on 17" Legend chrome rims front and back. The wheels and backspacing were carefully selected to fit and look perfect in the fender wells while offering adequate clearance for suspension travel and turning radius. All four wheels and tires are the same size, allowing for proper rotations to maximize tread life.
Keeping with the Chrysler theme for running gear, a seasoned early 70's 340 engine was located along with a bounty of aftermarket parts for a powerful and dependable small block that produces an effortless 381 HP and 417 Ft/LBS of torque. The Edelbrock aluminum heads are accompanied by the real deal six pack intake manifold and carburetors. The whole engine setup was dyno tuned after assembly and precision machine work by the world famous Tim's Automotive Machine in Bloomer, WI.
A built 727 Chrysler Torqueflite transmission along with a 2800 RPM stall converter back the powerful small block. This setup is very responsive if you get tired of holding your right foot up, however it is mild mannered enough to provide reliable street performance with inexpensive 91 octane pump gas. The exhaust headers are wrapped to minimize engine bay heat, and the Heartthrob mufflers produce a deep, powerful exhaust note. GTO tips exit just ahead of the rear wheels. A custom aluminum radiator and 190 degree thermostat keep the car running smooth and on point even with the AC turned on during a brutal hot summer day.
The body was cleaned to bare metal before months of tedious body work and a small amount of rust was repaired. Brand new smooth running boards were purchased, along with smoothing (eliminating) the bumpers. A roll pan was fit to the rear to clean up the overall look, before frenching in 39 Ford LED taillights. The headlights were also frenched and upgraded to halogen units along with LED turn signals. A custom polished grille insert was installed to clean up the front end. The builder went to great effort to keep the stock cowl vent operable and install the Vintage Air heat and AC unit which was no small task. You don't have to run the AC to be comfortable; the cowl vent or the crank out windshield do wonders on a mild day.
Before the body was bolted back on the frame, the entire inside and bottom was lined with Raptor liner. The paint and primer are all high quality PPG products with a custom blend that no picture can do justice to. This car glows on a sunny day, that being the understatement of the century.
All the original handles, trunk hinges, and the signature Ram grille ornament were sent out to be re-chromed. The stainless trim was carefully polished before being installed. All new glass was cut and installed with a 15% tint. Inside, Autometer custom gauges were used along with a tilt column. An Infinity sound system was installed with a 700 watt 5 channel amplifier and a subwoofer. The interior has been roughed in with the panels and wood structure. Upholstery needs to be completed, but this makes the perfect opportunity for the new owner to lend their creative touch and truly make the car their own.
Thousands of hours went into the creation of this car over the last several years, along with receipts in excess of $40,000. This car is well built, dependable, and sorted out. It's the perfect car to go cruising with your entire family; or, if you don't have one, the back seat looks big enough to start one in. The builder doesn't have to sell this car, and is not interested in fielding offers or trades of any kind. He has reached a fork in the road of life, and if this car sells he knows which direction to take. If you bid on the car it's going to be yours, so I encourage you or an independent agent to inspect the car in person before bidding. I have taken over one hundred high quality pictures and several videos of this car to disclose the condition and level of quality.
