Car description

1973 Datsun 240z that needs restoration. Please read the full description before bidding. I'm happy to email additional photos if needed and/or discuss any concerns you may have over the telephone. (Just message me with your phone number.) Of course, you're welcome to take a look in person if you live nearby. (Vehicle is located in Bergen County, NJ.)
I purchased this vehicle from the original owner in the winter of 2016. I did use the vehicle sparingly. (Maybe 100 miles within three years.) The vehicle ran very rich and two cylinders were low on compression.
This past summer I decided to restore the vehicle. The engine and transmission were removed. The engine was fully disassembled and the block was ready to be shipped to a machine shop. My plan was to tackle the floor pan and frame rails. However, late last year I was offered a job that I could not refuse. I will soon be moving and plan on renting a home. Because storage fees are incredibly high and the fact that there is no way I'll be able to find the time to restore the vehicle, I've decided to sell the vehicle to someone who can enjoy the car.
The good:- Matching numbers- Original Nissan glass- Clear title- Original owner's manual and maintenance records by previous owner- I also have the factory Datsun service manual. (What Nissan/Datsun dealerships use to repair the vehicle. Provides everything about the vehicle: wiring diagrams, how to rebuild engine, transmission, rear end, measurement, etc.)- Dash is in good shape. There is a small crack but certainly one of the better ones.- I have the spare tire. I could not upload the pic because ebay doesn't allow more than 18 photos. Again, I can email any photo you may need.
The bad:- The previous owner fiberglassed the front fenders and rear quarter panels. As you can see in one of the photos, the quarter panel is separating from the vehicle on the driver's side.- Floor pans and frame rails need to be replaced. The previous owner installed a massive piece of metal over the frame rails to strengthen them. Nonetheless, the frame rails have holes and should be replaced.- The metal fuel and brake lines pretty much fell apart in my hands. The only metal line that's left is the line running from the slave cylinder to the transmission.- Seats are worn- The hood isn't aligned correctly. I purchased the vehicle like this and never looked in to it. The passenger side is slightly elevated vs the driver's side.
I can not stress enough that this vehicle requires full restoration. Note, I did reinstall the engine and transmission for ease of transport. I did not reinstall the pistons. Each individual piston is numbered and packaged in its own box. Also, I inadvertently reversed the motor mounts; the engine is slightly rotated to the driver's side. Meaning, the prop shaft isn't lining up with the rear end. I decided to leave as is just because the new owner will certainly have to remove the engine once again.
Spare parts to be included and not pictured:- Air cleaner assembly with air cleaner- Prop shaft- Windshield washer bottle- Fuel lines that attach to the carburetors- Heat shield- Shifter- Horn- Throttle and choke cables
I have no problem helping with a shipping company of your choice. Please do not bid if you don't have the funds. I only have a limited amount of time to sell the vehicle.Again, please message me if you'd like to see any additional photos or to discuss any questions you may have. Thank you.
