available for sale: 1980 DATSUN 510 5 DOOR HATCHBACK2. 0 LITER 4 CYLINDER Z20S "8 PLUG" MOTOR. RARE DOGLEG 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. COLD FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING. These cars were only produced in this format for a few months at the end of the 510 run in 1980 and 1981. They weren’t common to begin with. and have become pretty scarce in the last few years. This particular car may well be one of the best preserved and most original examples left. There have been no significant modifications to the car from the day she left the factory. She still wears most of her original paint and remains 99% rust free. having lived in California until 2013 and never been driven in a Pennsylvania winter… or even a rain storm for that matter. Strangely for a West Coast car. the DASH PAD is not all cracked up. and the door panels are in excellent original condition. Even the GUIDE headlamps are original (or OE replacements). The car is fun to drive. and hardly uses any gas at all. My confidence in the 510 was just bolstered even further when I started the car this morning for the first time in 3 months at 18 degrees to back her out of the garage to take the pictures I’m including. 2 turns of the starter and she woke right up. This car was my project last summer and fall. and while I’ve done much. there are a few things left to do. most of which the parts are included for. ALL PICTURES INCLUDED ARE CURRENT and NOT ALTERED IN ANY WAY. Please look over them carefully. and feel free to ask for any other angles that you may need. A NEW ONE IS INCLUDED THE STEERING WHEEL HORN BUTTONS ARE BROKEN. GOOD USED BLACK ONES ARE INCLUDED THE TRIM OVER THE LICENSE PLATE IS CRACKED. A GOOD USED ONE IS INCLUDED THE LEFT CHROME RAIN GUTTER TRIM HAS A DING. A GOOD USED ONE IS INCLUDED THE HATCH AND FUEL RELEASES BY THE SEAT ARE BROKEN. A GOOD USED SET IS INCLUDED THERE’S A CRACK IN THE FACE OF THE DASH BY THE RADIO FINE TUNING OF CARB AND MINUTE ADJUSTMENT OF TIMING COULD STILL BE BENEFICIAL THE ENGINE BAY COULD BE DETAILEDAN OEM AM/FM RADIO WILL BE INCLUDED TO UPGRADE THE AM RADIO WITH IF SO DESIRED WEAK POINTS ALL FAIRLY TYPICAL OF A 35 YEAR OLD ORIGINAL CAR: CARPET/SEAT UPHOLSTERY/EXHAUST… ALL SERVICABLE BUT READY FOR IMPROVEMENT DRIPS AN OCCASIONAL DROP OF THIS AND THAT… NOTHING CRITICAL A FEW SMALL BUMPS AND BRUISES AS TO BE EXPECTED: MOST NOTICIBLE ARE ABOVE THE LEFT REAR DOOR AND AT THE FRONT OF THE RIGHT FENDER (SEE PICTURES) THE RIGHT REAR DOOR AND QUARTER PANEL HAVE BEEN PAINTED BELOW THE STRIPE GENUINE NISSAN SHOP AND OWNER’S MANUALS ARE INCLUDED AS WELL I used the car as a fair weather daily driver until the first salting of the year. I always showed up at work with a smile on my face. nbsp;and I'm pretty sure it wasn’t because I love my job so much. This 510 gets more comments and attention in parking lots than almost any other car I’ve ever driven (and I’ve had a few unusual cars). so if you’re shy. this may not be the car for you. If she’s still here in the spring I’ll knock out the to do list in a weekend. and have a professional take care of the upholstery and the carpet (or not - they're only original once). then I’ll keep her for a few years. The Datsun market is funny these days. Some people seem to think old Datsuns are worth the moon. while others still think they should be free. As with most issues. I try to stay in the middle of the pendulum. What I do know is that decent and fairly original examples of the early U. S. Nissans have become hard to find at any price. especially if you’re not in California or the PNW. The Price and reserve on this car have been set based on what she’s worth to me. and both are - of course - less than I have in the car. If you’re in the market for a dependable classic that you can drive and enjoy. then she should be a good purchase for the relatively small coin out of pocket. Fuel economy just about on par with a new generic econobox is a good bonus. Obviously the 510 is being sold as is/where is and with no warranty of any sort. That said. I would drive the car anywhere. and WILL BE driving the car from PA to NC if she’s still here next summer. THE DATSUN HAS A CLEAR PA TITLE IN MY NAME. WITH NO LIENS. verifying the mileage as correct. in my hand. and ready to be signed over to a new owner with no delay.
