1973 CITROEN SM 3.0 AUTOMATIQUE COUPE. MASERATI V-6 ENGINE. VERY NICE CONDITION.

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very pretty, clean, and decent Citroen SM Coupe. The SM was the flagship car for the marque at the time of their production, and was praised for it's innovation, ride, comfort, and safety.This example was recently purchased locally here in Southern California, and is believed to be a San Diego car from new.
The body and chassis on the car appear very nice with no signs of any accidents or previous corrosion. Underneath, the floors look perfectly solid as a result of being in California all of it's life. At some point in the car's recent life, it received a nice cosmetic restoration with a new exterior repaint, exterior stainless trim items polished, retrimmed seats and interior panels in quality vinyl, headliner, new woven carpets, recovered dashboard, new door seals, and a comprehensively detailed engine bay.
The car's paintwork is showing well today with only a few minor flaws/chips noted. Please see pictures.
The previous owner stated that he recently had the hydraulic system freshly rebuilt with a Citroen expert.
Mechanically, the car's Maserati engine with Webers starts easily on the button with no alarming noises, and revs fairly well once warmed up. The car's hydraulic system easily raises up the car on the desired the suspension setting. The car's Borg-Warner gearbox shifts smoothly through all 3 gears and the kickdown passing gear operates well. The car's ride is incredibly solid and very quiet. The tire and wheel setup are smooth and in good condition, although the brakes could use some attention (or simply a re-bleed), as they feel they should pull up a bit firmer...
The car has a few minor needs: The ignition switch needs replacing as the car is currently started on a remote switch and button. There is a center console switch missing. The battery cannot hold a charge, as there is a small electrical leak somewhere in the car (All systems should be checked. We haven't tested all the electrical components ). The door glass operation is said to be on the slow side.Overall, this attractive SM Coupe presents well in it's blue/parchment color scheme and is in a very nice, approachable cosmetic condition with it's super-solid California body. It offers excellent value when considering other cars currently on the market.
