Car description

This is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase one of only 501 Maserati TC's produced with the ultra rare 16v Maserati DOHC Turbo/Intercooled engine. Back in 1989 this was one of the first (if not THE first... 4v per cylinder, DOHC turbo/intercooled engines available in any production car sold in the US! Car and Drive magazine clocked this model (the 16v DOHC, 5 speed model) at 0-60 in 6.7 seconds which was blistering fast for 1989!! This article comes with the car as well as a copy of its original MSO showing the factory Make not as "Chrysler"....but as: "Europa Motorcars"!!
As you can see in the pictures, this TC is in wonderful condition. I was an ASE Certified tech for Chrysler back in the early to mid 90's and I specialize in these TC's. I personally went through this car's engine and transmission, and complete powertrain to ensure everything is working properly.
You can put this TC in a car show and place mirrors underneath to show it's as nice underneath (and in the engine bay) as it is up top. I took 40+ pictures of this car and will be happy to share them with anyone who is interested in bidding on this amazing vehicle.
This TC is one of the smoothest 16v powered TC's I've owned, and I've owned over 10 of them so far. I've personally restored over 20 of these twin cam cars (between my own, and customer's/TC club members cars).
I personally added the following tasteful performance upgrades to this amazing machine:
Stage II computer. This performance engine controller not only increases factory *peak* boost from 11.7 to 14.5psi at wide open throttle but also drastically improves part throttle response. You'd swear you are driving a powerful V8 when you step on the throttle.Upgraded BOV kit - high performance blow off valve holds higher peak boost for increased power and performance52mm Holley throttle body. (factory TB is 48mm)Upgraded intercooler hoses/pipes to fit the larger TBPowder coated the factory valve cover and intake manifold - deep wrinkle blackPorted and polished the factory intake manifold when it was off the headInstalled new factory clutchwith optional larger disc for increase load capacity while I had it apart. (New clutch has less than 1,000 miles on it). Clutch is smooth, and engages perfectly. These TC's with the 16v engine came from the factory with 200hp and 220lb/ft of torque. This TC is producing approx 260hp and 290lb/ft of torque with the above mentioned upgrades.

Additional items upgraded or restored to perfection: Powder coated the oil pan, k-frame, control arms, etc.. you name it, I removed it, cleaned it, and then sent it out for professional powder coating. New struts, shocks, (had factory springs powder coated black), high temp coated the entire factory exhaust system with 2,000 degree coating, new fuel tank, new 255ltr/hr fuel pump, new fuel sending unit, and all new tank seals. New brakes front and rear, (including all new brake hoses), pulled radiator out and flushed it (car had been sitting, so I wanted to flush it out real good). Flushed/cleaned the intercooler, all intercooler piping, etc.. Installed new rear wheel bearings, new rack and pinion, (since I already had the K-frame out), paid to have the vehicle aligned, installed new sway bar bushings, etc...
Car was painted in the factory color (Royal Cabernet) off the factory paint code approx 1 year ago and looks fantastic in person! I would encourage anyone to come and see the car in person so you can get an appreciation for how pretty this car is.
The factory ginger leather interior is not mint, but I would call it very good condition for its age. No rips or tears to speak of, some scuffs here and there, but truly in very good shape. The instrument cluster binnacle has been beautifully reupholstered as seen in the pics. ***All of this vehicle's factory Maserati glass (i.e. windshield, both door glasses, side view mirrors, rear quarter windows, hard top rear window, and soft top rear glass, are all present and in excellent condition. A rare find.
Both the hardtop and black soft top are in excellent condition. In fact, the headliner on the hard top is brand new and looks amazing. Both factory glass "porthole" windows in the hard top are clear with only very minor bubbles as seen in the pics. Compare these porthole windows to other TC's out there and you'll see how nice these are.
The passenger side seat (power) controls are not working. I am 99% certain the switch is either disconnected or not making full connection under the console. Never bothered me, as the driver power seat works (forward and back) just fine and that's all I ever use. Factory antenna works because I rebuilt it. ABS light has been coming on the past couple of times I've driven it, but brakes work great. A/C blows ice cold, and heater blows nice hot heat. The car is now 30 years old, so please don't expect a brand new car. If you want a brand new car please go to the dealer. This car retailed for $35k back in 1989 (adjusted for inflation that is $72,972 in today's money) and it will surely be a classic. This is a rare piece of automotive history that will continue to climb in value as the years go by. The 16v is the rarest of them all, and has a very special engine built by Cosworth and super strong transmission built and designed by Getrag. This car was a joint venture between Lee Iacococa (of Chrysler) and Alejandro DeTomaso (of Maserati).
If you'd like to set up an appointment to come drive the car please contact me and I'll be happy to arrange it with you. Car is located in West Palm Beach, FL. You can fly in and drive it home or have it shipped. I have a good relationship with a professional car shipper (both enclosed and open) and can provide the winning bidder with their info. Please ask any questions before bidding on this beautiful classic!
Some additional notes because a few folks have asked: Yes, the pull down motor works perfectly, as I just rebuilt it with a brand new motor, housing, and limit switch. Yes the antenna works...not that was not a typo. :) Yes the remote trunk release switch works (located in glove box from factory) and yes the hood liner (aka silencer pad) is brand new factory Mopar. The car pulls very strong in every gear, does not leak or smoke out the tailpipe, and comes with both the factory Chrysler (black headed) ignition key as well as the factory Maserati, original trunk key. Like I said, it's not a brand new car, but it's in truly beautiful condition, inside and out. No disappointments with this TC. Feel free to contact Rick with any questions...I am a technical advisor to the TC Club of America and write a column in the newsletter with tips on how to properly maintain these wonderful vehicles.
