Car description

This vehicle runs and drives great. The dual carb 6 cylinder rear mounted engine starts right up and runs excellent. The 4 speed transaxle makes it fun to drive. The tires are in near new condition and looks great with the chrome spinner hub caps. it does come with 4 more regular hub caps. This vehicle was restored about 10 years ago. Some of the exterior paint is faded and peeling, exposing some surface rust. The passenger side rear quarter panel has a small dent. The speed odometer works and shows 07500, which I interpret to be !07,500 miles. However, true mileage is unknown. This first generation 1962 Chevy Corvair Coupe is road worthy and can be driven anywhere. If you have any questions please ask sold as seen in the photos. I put the vehicle up for auction because I feel this is the best format for selling this car and will not end it early!
From my understanding there were just about 12,000 of the 900 series first generation cars made and even less with the 4 speed transaxle.
The neatly appointed bench bucket-seat DeLuxe trim of the 900 series Monza as a two-door club coupe only. The new Monza began arriving at Chevrolet dealers in April 1960 with sales of 11,926 Monza club coupes, making the coupe one of the most popular Corvairs.TheChevrolet Corvairis acompact carmanufactured byChevroletformodel years1960–1969 in two generations. It is still the only American-designed, mass-produced passenger car with arear-mounted,air-cooled engine. The name "Corvair" originated as aportmanteauofCorvetteandBel Air,[1]a name first applied in 1954 to a Corvette-based concept with a hardtop fastback-styled roof, part of theMotoramatraveling exhibition.[2]When applied to the production models, the "air" part referenced the engine's cooling system.Motor Trendnamed the Corvair as the 1960 "Car of the Year.Chevrolet designed a new car that deviated from traditional American norms of design. The car was powered by an air-cooled, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine constructed with many major components made from aluminum. The engine was mounted in the rear of the car, driving the rear wheels through a compacttransaxle. Suspension was independent at all four wheels. Noconventional chassiswas used, being the firstunibodybuilt byFisher Body. The tires were a new wider, low-profile design mounted on wider wheels. The styling was unconventional for Detroit: subtle and elegant, with no tail-fins or chrome grille. Its engineering earned numerous patents, whileTimemagazine put Ed Cole and the Corvair on the cover. These are excerpts from wikipedia. I felt it was a good article and panted to share all of it, but its quite lengthy.
