Car description

To compete with the Cobra, GM built the Grand Sport, it resembled the road going Corvette Coupe, but under the fiberglass body it was a completely new car. 100 examples were to be produced but only five were completed. All of these cars were equipped with coupe bodies. Two of the coupes were decapitated for better aerodynamics at the high speed tracks. Our car is a reproduction of one of those open top cars. Due to their exceptional rarity, the ill-fated Grand Sport racers are the most highly sought after of all Corvettes. The originals sell for $6-8 million.

Our Grand Sport reproduction was purchased in February 2007 from ProTeam Corvette. It was advertised as coming from the Mark Tate and Pat Lally collection.

It has a 377 cubic inch Bowtie block with SK side draft carbs and a four speed super T-10 transmission with line lock. The body is Rally Red with a Black/Red combo interior. The car has a custom tube chassis with a Corvette C-4 suspension, Mid-America body, Koni coil-over shocks and Halibrand (front 8"x15" - rear 10"x15") polished knock-off aluminum wheels. This vehicle has power steering and a custom aluminum exhaust. The radio is a Sony AM/FM/ Cassette.

Bills Auto Sales was an eBay seller (477 teal star rating) and a licensed VA dealership selling classic and vintage cars in Culpeper. When the business closed, the remaining cars were put into storage buildings on the farm. Now Harness Grove is selling all of the remaining cars in the collection. These are not ‘barn finds’ but they will require some attention before being placed back into service. After years of inactivity we do not recommend driving any of the vehicles until all safety and suspension systems have been inspected. Transporting the cars using a truck or trailer is encouraged.
