Car description

Original solid surviver 1949 3600 truck 216ci 4 speed. Farm truck on a Kansas farm then in a barn for almost 50 years and in my garage last 3 years. Manufactured in Kansas City plant April 1949.

It has a clear current title and the engine serial number matches the original owner title (included) verifying the original mileage. As far as I can tell it had one owner until I purchased from a broker who put air in the tires and transported for me to pickup.

It starts right up, runs, drives, and stops great. Almost completely original with some surface rust and farm truck dents. No rust holes and no rust repair or body putty. Exterior paint, wood bed, glass (except driver door new), window regulators, mirrors, engine/transmission, clutch, and all drive train, floor starter, generator, gauges, wheels, brakes, heater, all 1949 original and work great. This truck would be a great post WWII movie truck. I took it to a car show and won Best Antique (see picture).

Watch it all here, first a walk around then several drives. Listen to the engine and the transmission for shifting and synchronizers. It will stop immediately and the emergency brake even holds on a hill.

Newly added: almost all rubber, seals/hoses/belts, most wiring, interior paint, head & door liners, seat upholstery, gas tank, fuel pump, points & plugs, carburetor rebuild, master brake cylinder rebuild and wheel cylinders, brake hoses, chemical cleaned radiator, generator brushes, contacts in starter, 6 volt battery stays charged, 3 point seat belts, new faces for original gauges, turn and brake lights, new head light (one is likely 1960’s), interior bulbs (all work), 1949 Kansas farm license plate, linseed oil on original bed (no repair), and mostly just hours and hours of getting everything cleaned up and working.

Before starting the engine; made sure no issues with piston tops or scratches on cylinder walls. Valves and valve springs also looked and worked fine. One push rod was bent and replaced. All the lifters showed only standard ware. Tested the oiling performance, adjusted the valves, new valve oil seals, distributor components, and added new side and valve cover gaskets. Greased all chassis fittings and made sure all chassis suspension parts were functioning properly.

It’s licensed and I drive it every few weeks for fun or to post office and other errands. Everything works even things like the synchronizers in transmission. Takes me right back to how it felt learning to driver my Dads truck in 1964. Sounds, smells, and feels just the same as over 50 years ago. Doors & windows, brakes, steering, shifting, clutch, wipers, air vents, heater, horn, glove box, all work great. You don’t have to do anything other than drive it as is. Solid steering and braking make this truck feel safe to drive.

Some pictures may show a big rear bumper. It was removed however will include to take with you if you want.

It smokes when you start it cold and pretty much stops smoking when it’s warmed up however, it’s due for rings and valves. Another issue is these old farm trucks had low rear end gears. It’s got lots of dents and scrapes but no deep rust. And even though it’s very reliable, It’s a 70 plus year old truck and anything could fail at anytime so you are buying “as is”. Happy to help with a shipper if you would like otherwise you need to pick it up.
