Car description

Here is a very rare, highly desirable, numbers matching, date code matching 1966 L-72 big block Corvette convertible. It is a very early car (698). It was built approximately on the 7th day of 1966 production (in September of 1965). Being so early in production it is known as a L-72 450 hp car. As you know, later production cars were rated at 425 hp. In addition to being a 450 horsepower big block car, it also has the following very desirable factory options: power brakes, power windows, telescoping steering column, teakwood steering wheel, leather seats, one year only color and 2 tops. The side pipes were added later by the 2nd owner.

I am the 3rd owner. The 2nd owner had the car for 50 years. Included in this sale is his original title dated from 1967 and the original owner protection plan booklet. The last page of the booklet has the name of the original purchaser, the vehicle delivery date, the vehicle number, the original color code: 982 (Mosport Green), the transmission code: P0830 (Muncie 4 speed), the carburetor code: H (Holley) the engine block stamping number: T0907IP (427 – 450hp), the original rear end code: AT0611W (3:08 427 4 speed Positraction) and the original key code numbers.

DRIVETRAIN

It was professionally balanced then assembled with new forged pistons (9.7 to 1), new rods, new forged crankshaft, new hydraulic Competition Cams camshaft and an all new modern MSD ignition system.Engine Block: 3869942, date code I 2 5, stamped: T0907IP S100698. Cylinder Heads: both 3873858, both dated I 1 5, both rebuilt with new springs, valves and hardened exhaust seats installed for unleaded fuel. Intake Manifold: 3885069. Transmission: Number: tag: 3880855, case casting: 3885010, case date: P0830, stamped 6S100698. The transmission works flawlessly. Rear end is 3:08 positraction
