Car description

Looking through our inventory, you already know we love El Caminos, and this 1970 Chevrolet El Camino hits all the right notes. It combines a great-running big block V8 with plenty of style and a touch of practicality to make a car that you'll never get tired of driving. Oh, and it's black-on-black, does it get any better than that? The original color was code 48 Forest Green, but at some point this car got a makeover... in handsome black livery, which seems to suit it just fine. A cowl induction hood, white SS stripes, and very tight gaps are the kinds of things that car guys notice and appreciate, and at this price it looks great and has an elegant look that's missing on a lot of Elkys. No, it's not perfect and it's been driven and used, but there's no denying the appeal. The bed was painted in glossy black, the floor was then covered with a protective rubber mat and a taut tonneau cover was fit to complete the clean look. That makes it practical and durable for the things you want to do with a pickup truck, so this truck/car should be an easy sell to your significant other, too. Proper SS badges, a blacked-out grille, and hood pins reinforce the muscle car part of the Elky's DNA, and the whole thing has a very appealing look. Even the black vinyl top helps make it look elegant in a way that makes it seem as though other El Caminos are under-dressed. Black vinyl buckets and a console are a nice upgrade from the saddle bench seat this Elky was born with, and are always a great choice in a truck. From behind the wheel, it's almost impossible to tell that you're not in a Chevelle, with a three-spoke reproduction steering wheel, driver-oriented "SS" dashboard, and the amazing view over that cowl-induction hood. Instrumentation is SS-spec, with a full complement of dials that include a factory tach, although they've all been expertly upgraded with a set of aftermarket digital gauges. A retro-style AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit, factory heat/defrost, and a horseshoe shifter also make this a great car for road trips, or even just a trip down to the local cruise night, where it's sure to be a hit. Reproduction door panels are super clean, the carpet is plush, and the headliner is taut to match. A smart-running 454 cubic inch big block V8 lives under that cowl-induction hood and makes this El Camino feel every bit as muscular as it looks. A few dress-up pieces make it look good, including a correct chrome air cleaner and simple black valve covers replete with Bowtie decals. There's obviously a lot of recent work under the hood, including new belts and hoses, a recent alternator, and some fresh wiring running in and out of the MSD ignition. The dual exhaust system uses ubiquitous Flowmaster mufflers, so it has that traditional muscle car sound that everyone wants. A rugged TH400 3-speed automatic transmission feeds a 12-bolt rear end ignores abuse and is filled with highway-friendly gears, so it's an easy cruiser. You'll note that the floors are solid, there are a lot of new front-end components, and the overall presentation shows off a long life of clean living and careful ownership. Flashy SS wheels with proper 454SS center caps look great on the El Camino and carry fat 245/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A white-letter radials that fit inside the wheel wells just right. Just a nicely done Elky SS for not a lot of money, and looking this one over, it's pretty easy to see why they've been so popular for so long. Black-on-black never lasts, call today!
