Car description

Attention: PLEASE READ! This is a numbers matching 1972 Super Sport Camaro. Engine. trans. 3. 42 posi rear end. all match. also I have the original carb (I had a non-original rebuilt and that's on the engine. original included with the sale). distributor (I swapped in an HEI. but did not cut any wires). The original a/c system. valve covers and air cleaner are long gone. I had the original radiator cleaned. new petcock installed and pressure tested. New water pump (old one is included). New belts and hoses. fresh thermostat. I replaced the fan (original was bent and missing two blades) but kept the original fan clutch. Alternator and voltage regulator seem to work fine and have not been changed. do not know if either is original. but I have not changed them. Transmission. I added fluid and removed a Hurst Autostick shifter (shifts with the back drive linkage currently) Seems to shift fine. leaks oil. needs gasketsEngine. changed the oil. plugs. wires. distributor. runs fine. puffs a little smoke on start up after sitting. otherwise sounds good to my ear. makes good power. leaks oil. needs gaskets. Fuel system. all rubber lines replaced. new fuel pump. new in tank sender unit. fuel filter. Brake system. new master cylinder (I have old one) new calipers. (old ones were trashed by prior owner) new brake cylinders. new pads and shoes. new rubber lines. still could use at least one rotor (prior owner gouged it with a grinder) and I'd replace the pair. That work got it running and driving. and able to be inspected so I could register it. So it has a clear title in my name. Suspension. all needs repaired/replaced. The front a-arm bushings are all shot. the front shocks function (not great). but the rears are blown-out air shocks. The lower rear frame rails are toast. The passenger side torque box (where the spring cup mounts) is very rusty and I have it braced. but the torque box. floor pan and inner rocker all need replaced in that area. The body bushings are original. rubber and shot. The good news is the SS sway bars (front and rear) are still present. The body: Rough rough rough. The front fenders have holes at the bottoms and the passenger has a little at the battery box area. The driver front floor is weak. and the passenger torque box area is extra poor. The trunk pan has some holes. and are under both rear seats is poor. not the worst I've seen. but at very least they need patches. The quarters. outer (heck probably the inners too) wheelhouses and tail pan are all junk. Rockers have rust. Why are the doors different colors? The prior owner hacked the driver door apart with what looked like a chisel. trying to get it to open. it did open but was absolute junk when he was done. The passenger door was extremely rusty and also junk. so these are good used ones. Locks were retained from original doors. but have not been installed. The blue door has new weather strip. I removed it from the matching blue door but have not reinstalled it on red door. it's not perfect but included. The car has been painted. once as far as I can tell. a darker. less metallic more reddish gold color. the original color that peeks through is more of a yellow gold. (again code 63 mojave gold)How can I tell it's a real SS? The vin is correct 1972 "K" in the vin means 350 4 barrel L48 engine available only in the SS350. The trim tag sports Z27 (SS RPO). the engine with matching partial vin has suffix code CKD: 350ci. at. 200hp/SS. Gauges: Speedo and gas gauge work. Tach is disconnected (was run through old points dist). others are questionable. Gauges do not light at night. Lights: Headlights tail lights and turn signals all work as do the brake lights. Wheels: Cragars are not included because they belong on another car. steel wheels with tires that hold air will be provided. I do not have the original wheels. Windows. all are present. the windshield is trashed (cracked on both sides) all other glass is good used condition. Dash: sheet metal dash corners are rusty I do not know how bad as I have not removed the windshield. Upper dash has some curl starting. lower dash is intact. missing radio but hole is uncut. Paper glove box is still present. Have other questions? Wanna see it in person? Just ask!Can I drive it home? No. it isn't safe. It was put into running/driving condition to check components and make it easier to work on. it is not ready for the road. This is a major project or even a parts car. but after 43 years most of these cars lost the original drive train. nbsp; This one still has it .
