Car description

Offered here is a really nice 1984 Chevy El Camino SS. This car recently received a ton of maintenance and updates (see list below) and was also painted. The original paint was black and silver two tone and the intention of the new owner was to use this truck for work. He opted for a larger truck after doing the work and it’s now offered for sale. This car has fairly low mileage at around 122. 00 miles (in 30 years) and is in very good condition inside and out. This is a 305 C. I. D. V-8 small block engine with a four speed overdrive transmission. The exterior of the car is straight and shiny and really good looking. The entire car was sanded down. body work done and then a stock GM white paint applied. We started this process with almost a totally rust free car (a few small rust spots were repaired) and then it was fully primed and painted. This is a very good but not perfect or show paint. The owner wanted a car to use in his restoration business and perfect was not in his budget. The interior of the El Camino is also very good with red velour seats and vinyl trim. The cloth is faded but not ripped. The carpets are in excellent condition and the head liner decent. The dash is cracked on top but the trim is in reasonably good shape as are the gauges and steering wheel. The AM/FM radio does not work (nor the tape player) and you will need a new fender antennae In the brief time we have driven the car; it actually rides very well. handles well and stops great. It does have air shocks and a lot of work went into making sure the car was safe for use. The car is currently in a garage in Bethesda. Md. area. If you are close. we invite you visit and look at the car to see for yourself. It’s getting harder to find El Caminos of this vintage which aren’t completely wrecked or damaged and rusted. This one would be good for a work car or a great basis for a full restoration or conversion to a drag car. It’s very solid in all ways. New Radial tires- Updated brakes- Including all new brake lines front to back. new rotors. calipers. short hoses and any other item needed to fully rebuild the brake system- Water and fuel hoses replaced as needed- Carburetor rebuilt and adjusted- It had a recent full service (oil change. fluids and etc. ) Recent transmission service including fluid change. pan gasket and Tran’s gaskets- Full exhaust system including down pipes. hangars. muffler and tailpipe- New coil springs- New battery- Cap. rotor and plugs- DETAILS- Mileage- 122. 00 original miles (at the time of the photos. Jan. 28. 2015) Exterior & Interior Colors- Cream White stock GM color. Burgundy velour seats and burgundy vinyl trim- The paint and the body work are good but not perfect. From the side you can see some ripples and there are spots that could use a little more detail. There is nothing major. Engine- 305 C. I. D. 8 cylinder small block Chevy w/ 4 BBL. Rochester Carp and single exhaust- Transmission- four speed w. Overdrive- Brakes- Front disc brakes and rear drums power assisted- Dual circuit-. Suspension- Independent front with sway bar. rear coil over shocks- . Other features- Velour interior (seats. parts of side panels) with burgundy vinyl trim and faux wood accents- Front split bench seat with armrest- Also- Air Conditioning- working Power steering- Manual windows and door locks- AM/FM Stereo Radio with cassette (cassette does not work) Dual headlights- Interior light package- Power assisted Disc brakes on the front. drum in rear- Redone bed (sanded and painted) Remote control side mirrors- Power front seats- Original patterned steel wheels *which were redone- the rear is missing factory wheel caps- Tow Bar package- We have the insert that just needs to be bolted up- Condition- BODY- Very straight and dent free as you see in the pictures. No rust on the body or underneath the car. TRIM- All trim and bumpers in good to excellent condition- The rear bumper has one small dent. the front is very straight with reasonable chrome left on both- There are also some small dents in the trim around the edge of the truck bed. FRONT GRILL AND HEADLIGHT DOORS- Are all NEW. All three pieces were replaced with new units and all new trim clips. INTERIOR- The interior is good and the seats are nice (not ripped or heavily stained) but they are faded. The dash needs a new cover and some of the faux plastic trim could use an update. There is a glue mark on the right side of the fake wood dash panel. Again. the interior is fine for someone who wants use it as a work or race car. The owner did also replace the rubber gaskets on the lower part of the door window (which was really expensive ($150 on parts and $200 labor). Pay close attention to the pictures and you will see a number of the little items that could be done if you wish to do a more comprehensive restoration. This is not a show car or a creampuff! This is a solid car that had a lot of money invested in the mechanicals and a fair amount of money into the paint and body work. It is a Plain Jane but could be a very useful and fun vehicle. We have included some pictures of the underside which show normal surface rust but no holes or damage. It also shows the new exhaust systems and the general condition underneath. The owner has elected to offer the car with a now starting bid and no reserve above the opening bid. The initial bid represents only the money he put into repairs and no the initial purchase of the car. If you want a car to use for work or a good base vehicle for a complete restoration. this El Camino might be the one for you. Note to Bidders- Please do not bid on this vehicle if you have less than 5 positive feedbacks from other sellers. If you wish to bid in this situation. please contact us first for permission. Anyone bidding with less than 5 feedbacks without contacting us will have those bids cancelled. Thanks- Buyer is responsible to arrange shipping and delivery
