  • Below is an accurate description of a very nice, driver quality Chevelle. Every effort to describe pros and cons of the car have been made. I have about 70 high quality images available to email to serious buyers. I can be reached at 859-684-4304 as well to set up inspection of vehicle. I have sold several cars in the past to overseas buyers. Willing to accommodate any serious buyer.

Drivetrain:

Original L34 396 engine block (number 3902406) with 350 hp from factory. Engine runs strong but does burn oil. I believe it to be a non-restored 63,000 mile engine. Engine does not overheat. I idle on highway back and forth to work in 90 degree weather with 90% humidity with no overheating, puking of antifreeze. Engine suffix code "EF”. See picture for detail of number and matching VIN 160682. Please note that in the picture of the Engine pad showing factory numbers the first number series denoting Engine discplacement/power is "gang stamped" from factory. Because of this it is obvious that the lower 1/3 portion of all numbers/letters in the series aren't present from factory due to imperfect placement of gang stamp pad when struck with hammer. The engine suffix code therefore, looks like "FF" but is in fact "EF”. There is no such "FF" code 396 from GM. HEI distributor upgrade and 1.75'' headers to a 2.5" Flowmaster exhaust. I have original Holley Cast iron intake, oil pan, timing cover that can be included if restorer desires. Currently car has new Quick Fuel carb and is leak free.

Transmission is original to the car. M21 factory upgrade matching trim tag. 621 bell housing. Trans tag still present from the factory reads 3879668. Hurst shifter added years ago. Have original shifter. Trans shifts smooth, stays in gear, no grinding/whining noises.

Rear end is original 12 bolt from factory coded for 3.31 non-posi unit. I have original Ring and Pinion gear removed from car. Updated to 3.90 with Posi. The car had a chrome cover that leaked so I replaced it with factory 12 bolt cover. No leaks, no noise, no hum on drive or coast side.

Radiator is factory style upgrade to 4 core. Original fan blade and factory reproduction fan clutch assembly from Corvette stop in California. I have original radiator to go with car that is in excellent condition.

Brakes: Car was originally equipped with non-power drum brakes. I have all factory parts in boxes to go with car including spindles etc. All new disc brake update kit from Right Stuff. Hard lines replaced with all stainless lines. All brakes have been upgraded to factory Disc brake front drum brake rear specs. Car stops excellent.

Upgrade to suspension include all new KYB gas shocks with 3'' lowering springs in front(For big block car) and 2" lower springs in rear.

Cragar SS chrome wheels are excellent condition with no issues. Front tires are brand new. Rears are several years old.

Body/Paint:

Original R-R code (see trim tag). Car has had one re-paint 22+ years ago. The color is Torch Red. I believe all panels to be original sheetmetal. The reason I states this is that there is factory/original red pain in corners and edges where car was taped off. Body has not been off chassis. Quarter panel numbers are present but had bondo smeared to cover when painted. You can see the outline of the factory number stamp but numbers are illegible. Paint is a 6/10. Excellent driver quality paint but has imperfections. There is a small amount of rust bubbles started in the passenger fender behind the the tire. Quarters both have some rust bubbles behind wheel well. Rear deck seam behind window on passenger side have very small bubbles. All "bubble" are firm and not soft. The trunk was restored by an amateur and painted over factory trunk pans with surface rust. I scraped old bubbled paint out to give accurate representation of pan and to identify rust. There are about 5 rust holes less than the size of a nickel in pan (see pics). Trunk pan will not require replacing. Surface rust present. Very solid. Rockers, doors floor pans are all rust free with the exception of the passenger side floor pan. There is a spot the size of a dollar bill that is soft and has been patched with a silicone of some kind. Gas tank is original and rust free. Trim is average condition. Most all is believed to be unrestored original.

Interior: Interior is nice driver quality. All gauges (including speedometer) and lights work and are accurate. Blinker tach works but is reproduction. Blinker light works as well. Have original blinker tach from factory that came with car that's been rebuilt. Factory original paint present on steering wheel, column and dash panel below speedo/glove box. Someone painted the tops of the doors, top of dash panel with non-matching red paint. You can see original paint under paint that's cracking off. Dash pad was recovered. Arm rests are cracked. Door panels are average, carpet is average. Seat vinly has some very small rips/scratches/holes. Headliner is excellent and tight. Frankly the interior could use a refresh of all plastics, trim, arm rests for it to really stand out because the seats, headliner and carpet are above average.

Glass: Front glass has hazing and scratces from windshield wipers. Drivers side glass is scratched the passenger is delaminating. All other glass is nice.

Panel Fit: Panel fit and gaps are all excellent. Doors shut crisp as any unmolested, unrestored, almost rust-free car would.
