Car description

1968 Corvette, 327, TH350, posi, t-tops, silver on black. This one is a true survivor that runs and drives great, has a very nice interior and is loaded with original parts. It has a factory alarm system, believedto be one of only 388 cars equipped with this feature in 1968 (the first year it was available). This is a great first year C3 that is only one of 9,936 coupes produced in 1968. It can easily be left alone and enjoyed, restored to perfection or built into something awesome.
Overall, the car is rock solid, the doors open and close perfectly, hood works great, windows roll up and down nice and there is no rust in the frame. The paint is in fair condition with a bunch of chips and some scratches as seen in the photos. Honestly, besides the paint, there's probably not a better one available in this price range with this much original equipment. Only reason I'm selling is so my 15 year old son and I can build his first car together (and he loves old Mopars).
Highlights include:
- Factory Silverstone Silver code 986 with nice original black interior
- Original327 / 350HP engine casting pad shows HT which is a factory 4 speed car- Originally a 4 speed car, was converted to automatic, console, pedals, etc. Don't blame me :) Previous owner had knee replacement surgery and could no longer shift, so made the switch to an AT- Starts right up and drives really nice (see video) I don't know the original miles
- Runs and drives like a champ, power steering works perfectly and drives straight as an arrow
- Alarm system with the lock mounted on the driver side fender... I don't have the key for it so have never tested or used it
- Fiberglass T-tops and removable rear window are in excellent condition
- T-top headliner is in amazing condition
- Original AM/FM stereo that mechanically changes the band in the display (see video), works perfect
- Fiber optic indicator lights in the center console that actually work
- The headlights and the windshield wipers work perfectly (up and down)... that alone is nearly impossible to find (see videos)
- Original 4 wheel disc brakes work perfect
- Original 15x7 rally wheels (1968 only AG code)
- Goodyear Eagle 245/60r15 tires in excellent condition
- New battery cables with the positive cable routed properly through transmission tunnel (nightmare to install)
- New fender louver trim because these look lame without it
- All of the glass is in very good condition (windshield is new)
Known Issues:
- Needs paint - had one repaint long ago in original silver color. Now has chips and cracks as seen in the photos.
- Driver's seat has a tear in the backrest (see photo) but the rest of the interior and the other seat is really nice
- Exhaust needs some attention, has new Thrust turbo mufflers and temporary fittings to work with 18" wheels (see last photo - those wheels/tires are not included)
- Very original undercarriage with normal oil seeping for being 50 years old- Brake lights don't work (probably the switch) - all other lights and turn signals work perfectly
- Speedometer moves, but doesn't read accurately- Could use new seat belts
Overall though, these are all relatively minor issues and easy things to fix. The positives far outweigh the negatives on this car. I've posted a few videos on YouTube:
