Car description

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1955 Chevrolet Corvette for your consideration. Finished in Gypsy Red over a White interior, this Corvette shows very well inside and out. Per the last three digits of the VIN, this Vette was #639 of 700 built. The engine block casting number is 3703524, correct for a '55 Corvette. Casting date of the block is I 6 5 which translates to September, 6th 1955. The FG decodes that it's a 265 cubic... inch 195hp engine with Carter WCFB carburetor and a power glide transmission, which is what the vehicle has. This Corvette also comes with side curtains that are in very good shape along with the original storage bag. All of the chrome and fit is above average and shows exceptionally well. Please call us today for more information on this 1955 Chevrolet Corvette The Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of Chevrolets sports car division of General Motors and was introduced late in the 1953 model year and produced through 1962. It is often known as the "solid-axle" generation, as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray. Chevrolet debuted its 265 cu in (4.34 L) small-block, 195 hp (145 kW) V8 in 1955 and the engine found its way into the Corvette. At first 1955 V8 Corvettes continued with the mandatory-option Powerglide automatic transmission (as did the few 6-cylinder models built), but a new three-speed manual transmission came along later in the year for V8 models only. Exterior color choices were expanded to at least five, combined with at least four interior colors. Even soft-tops came in three colors and different materials. Despite all this, only 700 1955 Corvettes were built, making it second only to 1953 in scarcity. To see over 80 photos of this car, including under carriage please visit our website
