Car description

1986 Chevy Car Hauler Ramp Truck 19' bed and19"x 62" slide out self locking ramps. The ramps are locked in position and can never fall out. Bed originally built and installed by Herrin welding of Kilgore Texas. He built and installed hundreds of these beds long before Hodges beds were ever heard of. These beds at time of installation cost $10,000 but this one was ordered with the electric hydraulic tow boom/wheel lift attachment, which made this truck end up around $14,000 out the door.. I rarely move more than 1 car at a time and the wheel lift set up has long since disappeared. I can give you some real clean easy to read drawings to build one like the original ones if you want to make one. Herrins' son is still in business in Texas but I don't think he makes anything for these beds any longer. He only makes the Western Hauler beds.
The 454 engine in this truck was taken out of a wrecked low mile motorhome along with the transmission. Starts instantly everytime. Oil pressure runs near maximum continually, temperature runs just below half even on 100 degree day. Temp. will go up 5-10 degrees at most pulling grapevine with car loaded on back. My truck speedo showed almost 40K when motorhome engine was installed and the motorhome had 39K on it, so miles on my speedo are almost identical to actual motorhome miles. I replaced everything when I did the engine swap. That includes, fuel pump, 1 wire electronic HEI distributor, brand new just released Edlebrock latest carburater, water pump and all tune up parts. I took truck to Les Schwab Tires in Hemet, California and had them replace entire front end suspension parts which included upper and lower complete "A" arm assembly's, new rotors, calipers and pads and alignment. I also had them install new rear wheel cylinders and HD brake shoes, spring kits and seals. Have receipt close to $2000 which included 4 brand new rear10 ply tires.
Front tires have about 800 miles on them. It has a12,000 lb Wireless Remote winch, ice cold Factory Air Conditioning. The AC pump was just replaced and entire AC system serviced with 1 year warranty included.
Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Tilt Wheel, Power Steering. Factory "Big Dooley" commercial specs listed on spec sheet in glove box. AM/FM/CD works great.
All interior is original except it has a new factory replacement seat cover, new grill, 4 new LED headlights which will blind you when on high beam. Replaced all dash light bulbs with high brightness led's. New cab roof lights, new repro side trim. Both gas tanks work with no problems.. Gas gauge and gas tank switch work as they should.Complete new exhaust system and mufflers. Just had truck brakes bled, brake fluid system flushed and brakes readjusted since being installed 2 months ago. All glass in perfect condition. Power windows work great. Truck needs a couple of small things but no disappointments here. You will be proud to own this truck!!!
Paint is 5 or 6 years old but still looks okay. You cannot take this truck anywhere without someone asking you about it or yells at you on the freewa, "COOL TRUCK" with lots of thumbs up. People take pictures of the truck on the freeway and in gas stations all the time..
Please take a look at the Hodges bed haulers and compare it to this truck. Hodges haulers copied Mr. Herrin but come no where near the quaility and HD construction of this truck. Notice the one piece rolled edges and the heavy guage side doors, not to mention the hydraulic stinger verses Hodges lightweight winch lifted boom. Hodges trucks are no doubt beautiful, but can never compare to Herrin Welding car hauler beds.... These beds are super rare and very hard to find. I am retiring from this part of the business and am selling off two of these trucks. It will be a while before the other truck is ready to sell but this one is the only flatbed model I have left anyways.. The other truck is an over the cab ramp truck built by Herrin also.
THIS TRUCK IS COMPLETELY RUST FREE...IT WAS BORN IN TEXAS AND LIVED IN TEXAS, CALIFORNIA AND 1 YEAR IN RUST FREE SOUTHERN OREGON.... YOU CAN FLY INTO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND DRIVE THIS TRUCK HOME WITH NO WORRIES AT ALL. TAGS GOOD TILL 2019 AND LICENSE PLATES STAY WITH TRUCK TO GET YOU HOME AND REGISTER IT IN YOUR HOME STATE....
