Car description

Here's a "barn find" 1957 Nomad. The car had been sitting for 15-20 years, we spent a few days going through it and it fired right off. The car does run and drive but it will require more work to be 100% roadworthy. It was completely gone through in the early 1990's, and has been sitting since 1995-96.
The drivetrain consists of a 454 big block (bought new from GM in 1990-91) backed with a Turbo 400. It runs very well, makes 35 pounds of oil pressure at a warm idle and has great power. We changed all the fluids, installed a new distributor cap, rotor, plugs and plug wires. The carb is a new Holley double pumper, we also cleaned out the fuel tank and replaced all the soft hose in the fuel system. The transmission shifts smoothl, there's no smoking from anything and the motor does not run hot. There's a complete air conditioning setup in the car, based on everything else I'll bet it would work with a fresh charge of R12. The rear axle is a Ford 9" with 31 spline axles, a positraction unit and 4.11 gears. There's an aftermarket front disc brake kit installed, we replaced the rear tires but the fronts are as found. They hold air but should be replaced.
The body is remarkably solid and straight, it was painted when it was gone through, in 1990-91. The paint is flaking just a little on the roof but otherwise not bad. There's no rust, anywhere. The floors have some patches in them, but all well done and very solid. It looks as though the car may have had a 4 speed in it at one time, there's a patch in the tunnel where a Muncie style shifter would have come through. there's also patches under the seat where a non stock front seat was mounted at one time. Every single piece of trim is present on the car, and all of it is nice or very easily repaired. Doors close easily and the panel alignment is nice. All of the glass was replaced when the car was gone through in 1990-91, it's all nice.
The interior is largely original, with the exception of a tilt steering column from a 1980's Cadillac. There's also a complete set of Autometer gauges in cups under the dash, they all work. It is a factory power window car, and they work. The dash has not been drilled or modified, and all the lights work as well.
Overall this a very solid car that could be enjoyed as is with very little work. Or it could be the start of your dream build. In either case, it's a rare opportunity to own a sound example of a very desirable car. They don't come along like this very often, most have been badly molested or are complete rust buckets.
