I am incredibly pleased to offer up for bidding this stunning and original Chevrolet Silverado 3500 dually Camper Special. It was purchased brand new at Jack Wall Chevrolet in Pasadena, CA in January1982. It has always been a 2nd car used for family trips to the river and has absolutely never been abused or driven hard in any way. It towed a light 16ft speed boat to Arizona and back 2-3 times per year from1982- 2001. In 2001 the kids were all grown and the truck has been stored in a garage with a car cover, only started and driven approximately 10-15 miles per month.
COSMETICALLY:
You will not find any rust ANYWHERE on the body or frame. It was professionally lowered shortly after purchase in1982and I'll be including all of the original parts (spindles, leafs that were removed) with the sale of the truck. There are no scratches or damage on the body at all. There's one tiny ding the size of a dime on the hood that can easily be pressed out (see pic). The interior is a perfect 10 out of 10, with exception of the headliner. The material is hanging down off the headliner itself and I was quoted $350 to have it fixed but never got around to it. But honestly, there's not a rip, tear, stain, stress-mark or anything anywhere in the interior. It has been kept in perfect condition since new. Literally it looks like this truck has never been sat in. The dash has absolutely NO cracks or fading. The whole dash from side to side looks exactly like it did the day it was sold. The original steering wheels shows NO wear and looks like it has never been touched. All in all, it is consistent with the original 41k actual miles on the truck. It's cleaner than most vehicles 2 or 3 years old with the same mileage. The camper shell has been on since the early 90's and has faded with a slight yellowing color. The truck looks absolutely gorgeous without the shell. So if you have no need for it, just sell it for $500 on Craigslist.
MECHANICALLY:
Like any carbureted car this age, it takes a few seconds to crank over at a cold start each morning. If you're driving it the rest of the day it will fire right up. I recently sent out the carburetor to get fully rebuilt and smooth out the idle. It idles great and passed a CA smog test on 8/23/2017. The transmission shifts great and the rear brake drums were just done within the last 1000 miles. The AC blows cold and strong, and the heater works perfectly as well. It has an AM/FM stereo that picks up signal just fine and the speakers sound great. It has dual gas tanks with a switch on the dash to alternate between the two.The tires are all at least 90% with little-to-no cracking. The truck could very easily be a comfortable daily driver exactly as it sits without doing anything. The only thing mechanically that's not 100% is the blinker arm does not stay up when you push it to signal a right turn. You just have told hold it in place if you want it to stay on. So it needs that part replaced if you can't deal with it as is.
The winning bidder will receive all manuals and service records that we have retained over the years, although some records have been lost or misplaced. Really all that has ever been done were regular oil changes, brakes, hoses, tires etc. It has never required anything major. Also included are 2 sets of keys, the original window sticker showing all the options, and I'll even throw in the original contract showing a total purchase price of $14,449.00 from Jack Wall Chevrolet. You will never see a truck like this come up for auction in this original condition and with such low miles. This is a great investment as trucks like this are becoming harder and harder to find, so it'll only be going up in value. Please feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them to the best of my ability. I am not an expert or enthusiast ofChevytrucks so I may not have every technical answer you're looking for. If you're local to the Orange County area and would like to preview the truck before you bid, you are more than welcome to schedule an appointment. Please note that if you are a CA buyer, there will be $688 in DMV registration fees because it has not been paid in several years. I will be including a DMV print-out which outlines all of these fees. So please take into consideration these fees when bidding. Good luck and I'll be looking forward to meeting the new owner.
