Car description

For sale today we have a 1963 Corvair Spyder turbo coupe. This car is a really nice Driver! I don't know much about the car except what I was told by the owners family. The story goes that the car was owned by a gentleman that bought the car at the large car show in Iola Wisconsin sometime in the 90's. He took the car apart for restoration, had it painted, rebuilt the engine, put new interior in it and drove it only for a couple summers before he passed away. The car was then stored inside for many years until the person I bought it from purchased it. He only drove it one summer before the clutch started acting up. Since he basically knew nothing about Corvairs, he parked it along side his garage where I found it. I purchased it, changed the clutch and drove it for the summer. It starts right up, runs great, and drives awesome. The turbo boosts better and sooner than any stock corvair I have ever owned and it shifts smoothly. The engine does not leak oil. In my research of the car, I found that the engine is actually a 164 cubic inch 1964 engine as well as the 4 speed transmission. It has also had the 1964 rear suspension installed with the transverse leaf spring,so the handling is great. I rebuilt the brake system over the summer so the brakes are great as well. The car is not perfect..as you can see in the photos, the clearcoat is peeling on the roof and there is minor peeling on the hood and engine lid. The interior is near perfect, it has an aftermarket AM/FM radio that works fine and sounds good. I also installed a flowmaster type muffler so is has a nice growl but is not obnoxious. The fuel tank and sender are new as well as the fuel pump, spark plugs, points, coil and battery. I also upgraded to an alternator instead if the crappy generator. As I said, the car is not perfect but an older and aging restoration. It would be a great car to just drive and have a bunch of turbo charged fun with or a totally complete car for restoration. The floors are solid, but likely replaced, the trunk is solid as well as the rockers. The wheels are an aftermarket 17 inch alloy and fit the car nicely and look awesome. It gets looks where ever I drive it! If you are in the area, I urge you to come and look at it and if weather permitting..drive it, but I'm not sure how long the snow will hold off here! LOL I am selling the car because I have 3 corvairs and space for 2! I do not want it to sit outside all winter. I would rather send it to a good home and let someone else enjoy it as much as I have. NO RESERVE Thanks for looking
