Car description

This is my LITTLE RED FIRE TRUCK! It spent its first 25 years in a small town Illinois fire department, where it was barely driven 17k miles....all polished up, ready to go!! I am the 2nd owner, and have owned it the past 12+ years...so, it is now 37 years old, and only has 26,082 miles on it! It is a 1980 Chevrolet G30 van with a Stahl Utility Box.....I have all of the original build sheets/owners manuals from 1980 that shows all of the detail (they spared no expense). The BODY is SOLID (no rust), the engine purrs like a kitten! Has recent tune-up items: new spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, air/oil filter, etc. The Tires are all good. The interior is good except for a small tear in the drivers seat, and the stereo is missing. I disconnected, and removed the Emergency Light Bar from over the cab years ago so that I wouldn't draw any attention from local law enforcement...it can easily be re-installed, and operational with all of the lights, etc. I had used this truck from time to time in my construction business...putting the majority of my tools inside on the shelving, and my supplies outside in the lockable compartments. Its amazing what all you can get into this thing! Rough interior dimensions of the Stahl Box: measures 9'-6" length across the floor from back doors to wire cage behind the seats, floor to ceiling height of 64", wall to wall width of 64", with 51" width between the wheel wells. Also inside you have 2 shelves, on each side, that run the length of the bed, window lighting for day, and wired lighting for night. (Also inside is a removable steel storage box with a cushioned lid that the fire fighters stored their gear in as they rode to the emergency call...use it as storage, or remove it) All of the compartments on the exterior are lockable, and have adjustable shelving. Many of the compartments also have wired outlets that are designed to run off of a gas powered Kohler generator (needs work to function properly). This would be a great candidate to do a restoration back to a fire truck, or put it to work!! I could see it as a "tiny house", or as a food truck too! With all of the compartments, and the room inside it has LOTS OF POSSIBILITIES!! Come take a look...I live on the northside of Indianapolis, IN. Any questions feel free to ask..
