I love when people actually DRIVE and ENJOY the classic cars they have. Nothing is worse than seeing a beautiful piece of machinery languishing in some cold, sterile, air-conditioned garage while it waits for someone to wipe it down one more time.

The chassis is clean, solid and rust free. You can see that it has been maintained and serviced, and while not "show-quality" in appearance, it is certainly evident that the truck has not abused or neglected.

Front leaf springs with solid axle front are pretty simple and inexpensive to maintain, as is the rear suspension system, and it provides for the typical firm but smooth ride you'd expect on a 2.5 ton commercial truck.

The inline 6 cylinder engine is in very good running order, and has been rigorously maintained over the years to make it reliable to drive regularly at least one a week without concern. It starts easily with a turn of the key and push of the floor mounted start button, and idles clean and smooth.

Snick the manual transmission into gear and ease out the clutch, and the truck pulls away clean and smooth. Clutch take-up is perfectly balanced, pedal feel is silky-smooth, and there is no chatter or slipping evident.

Each gear is smooth and goes into place easily, and unless carrying a load, 2nd gear starts are the norm.

The truck drives out quite well, and does not jerk, pull, wander, or drift when going down the road. Steering is tight, and turning is made easier with the steering wheel shift knob.

With the current original gearing, the truck manages 45-50mph comfortably when driving. You can scoot around town with ease, and acceleration is quick enough to deal with modern traffic scenarios too, but you will NOT be taking this truck on the freeway without swapping out the rear end gears!

I verified the speed on GPS, and want to note that the currently speedometer reads 14mph slower than the GPS reading on both my iPhone and a GARMIN did.

Braking is solid, but you need to plan your stopping in advance in such a big rig, and not be afraid to put your weight behind the pedal when you want to slow down. Drum brakes on all four corners stop without pulling or jerking to the side, and the master is located under the driver side floor in the cab.

It is still on the stock 6 VOLT system, and the engine is as basic and simple as when it was built. Fortunately, that means is has very little that could go wrong, so it still runs and performs quite well. Maintenance has been done regularly on the motor, and it runs as it should without overheating, stuttering, stalling, smoking, or causing any problems.

It does drip a little oil from the pan gasket (4-6 drops) after driving it for an hour or so, but that's not too bad for being 67 years old!

Tires are SAMSON HI-WAY EXPRESS Scuff Block blackwalls size 7.5-20, and all 6 of them are in very good condition, with normal light wear, and about 70% of the USEABLE tread life remaining.

They are mounted on steel rims painted in industrial black paint that are in good condition with no damage.

The bed is a KNAPHEIDE Cargo-Hauler platform body and it is in very good condition. The wooden stake sides were made specifically for the truck, and fit perfectly while still being easily removable if needed.

Rear door is designed to open inward for safety, and has a strong and functional latch.

Custom seats were designed to wrap-around the bed in a U-shape, and the prior owner left the under-seat Christmas lighting in place for you so you have a head start on your parade decorating!

The rear steps mount to the back of the steel body with 2 long bolts (included) and are supported against the body for safety. They can be left on all the time, as they have plenty of ground clearance, but we removed them in case your shipper wants it to be a little shorter.

Flooring has anti-slip and caution tape in spots, and the steps are roughed up for traction.

I added a few pictures of it decorated for parades and events, and you can see that it really stands out in that capacity.

There is an under-bed platform on the right that has a strap to secure either a small generator or auxiliary batteries, and the wiring to connect lights has been left intact in a few spots as well. In addition, a wire and bas antenna for a CB/PA was left in place, but not the broadcast unit.

There are a variety of places to hook banners, signs, and lights all around the truck as well.

It all adds up to a bed and a truck that is as suitable for hauling hay as it is people, and the prior owner has had a total of 14 in the back on a parade trip!

The cab of the truck is clean and solid, but this is NOT a $100,000 Barrett-Jackson truck, so don't expect perfection! It has paint bubbles, blemishes and discoloration under the spot where the magnet signs were on the doors for 10 years, and a variety of scuffs, scratches, dings, and dents as you can see in the 100 EXTRA-LARGE photos below.

Everything is solid, and the doors open and closes like they should along with the hood.

Side vent works like it should, as does the cowl vent, but both could use new gaskets if you plan on driving in the rain on a regular basis.

Long-neck mirrors work as they should, and look like they belong on the truck.

Front and rear window seals are newer, and are not rotted out.

Windshield is clean, clear, and crack free, as is the back window. Side glass is crack and damage free, but shows light lamination bubbles around the edges.

Side steps are solid and firmly fit to the truck. They are a recent addition about 4 years old.

Front hood emblem, and the side CHEVROLET and 6400 emblems are in decent shape, but are not show quality in appearance.

Fender mounted turning lights are in good shape, and work, but the only come on solid.

Headlight trim rings look great, and the headlamps have upgraded bulbs that work as they should.

Grill has been painted black with white trim, and shows marks from road debris and time, but is in overall straight and nice condition.

A front mounting tab was installed for banners, wreaths, and other times to mount to, and a front license plate bracket is intact as well.

Interior is complete and in decent condition, but everything does show patina and wear from age and originality.

Inner doors are solid, as are the jambs, and the hinges are tight and secure and don't make the doors droop or sag.

Inner door panel inserts are in original condition, and show age, as do the door pulls and window rollers.

Headliner is original, and is drooping in spots too.

Rubber floor mat is in pretty good condition, but does show dirt and wear. Lift it up on the passenger side to find the battery, and on the driver side to get to the brake master cylinder.

Dash is solid, and the bright glove box lid and center trim are surprisingly straight but just have the perfect amount of patina on them, as does all the cab bright work, including the gauge surround.

Glove box opens and closes, as does the ashtray, and the cigar lighter is intact but inoperable.

Wipers do NOT work, as the truck was not normally used in any inclement weather. It wouldn't be hard to get them functioning though, since it is a simple vacuum system.

Heater box and controls are under the dash, but the system is non-functional right now.

Brake, clutch, gas, and start pedals are all intact and functional, and the floor shift works as it should, but the E-Brake does not.

Seat is solid, clean, and free of rips or tears, but does show its age in that perfect "old truck" way. It is comfortable to sit on, and provides more than enough room for three adults.

Latches on the doors hold firm, and the doors don't pop open over bumps like some trucks do.

Steering wheel is solid and undamaged, but shows its originality. Horn even works, and the suicide ball helps turn this beast in parking lots.

Gauges to monitor Battery /Oil/Gas/Temp are intact, but only the oil and battery are currently working.

Speedometer works, but as mentioned above, is about 14mph slower than what GPS shows.

Driving the truck is a blast, and it goes right along in town without much complaint and no issues. I have driven about 20 miles round trip, and the prior owner made a regular commute into Tampa, FL with it on city streets, and used it for many parades and events without issue.

It doesn't seem to run hot, as a laser temp gauge showed me only 186 degrees after a recent 5 mile trip to take these photos.

Put your business on the map with this truck.
Use it in parades and local events to promote your favorite charity or your business.
Tear it down and completely restore it to like-new condition.
Drive and enjoy it.
Use it on the farm.

Whatever you do with it, the truck is a super rare piece of commercial truck history, and is something that deserves to be maintained and enjoyed.

It comes with a clean and clear Florida title.

Approximate dimensions of the truck are as follows:
84" WIDE
225" LONG
84" TALL
