The great thing about tri-five Chevys is you can build them to look mild or wild and everything in between. On the outside. this Bel Air gives slight cues to a wild side with a custom cowl hood and the lowered stance. but the paint job keeps things traditional. Expertly applied over some extremely clean body panels. the finish is super smooth without being modern looking. giving it a period perfect glow. If you're going to build a car that attracts this much attention. then you need to make sure it's straight. the gaps are even. and everything lines up properly. you could definitely use this car as a guide for how to do it right. Of course. you'd also have to spend a fortune to make your chrome look like this. because it's nearly flawless. The bumpers are straight and even. the stainless is clear and blemish-free. and the Bel Air script on the flanks looks fresh out of the molds. Perfectly complimenting the handsome exterior is a wonderful white and yellow vinyl interior. a beautiful combination that would look right at home in a much more modern and expensive vehicle. The power-adjustable bench has been covered in fresh white vinyl with wide pleats. Beautiful door panels were tailored to match with billet handles and cranks. and you can see how ideal the color combination is with the window frames painted to match the body. The original dash is intact. but tastefully modified with a quartz clock under the passenger side speaker. a factory-looking AM/FM radio that has been an auxiliary input. and the factory gauge cluster has been updated with dual round Shark instrument gauges. Air conditioning is available with factory controls. and a beautiful leather trimmed. 3-spoke steering wheel sits atop a tilting column. Tan carpets tie it together nicely. while the trunk has been finished with the same custom detail. As stated previously. motivation for this smooth tri-five comes from a 5. 7L LS1 V8 sourced from a 2002 Trans Am. Originally good for a bit over 300 rear wheel horsepower. this one has been upgraded with a short ram intake. aftermarket headers. and a reprogrammed ECU to take power levels closer to 400 horsepower. It sits in a show worthy engine bay where everything has been painted or polished. Even the hood hinges are finished to show quality standards. An aluminum radiator and dual electric fans keep things cool. so no need to worry about warm weather idling. The transmission came from the same donor car and is a 4L60E automatic. The undercarriage features painted floors. power four wheel disc brakes. a power steering unit. and a Pypes dual exhaust system. The rear leaf springs have been brought in to allow for a staggered setup with wide 275/40/18 tires out back and 235/45/17s up front that wrap chrome Foose wheels.
