Car description

You are bidding on a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette.

The car has the 283 / 283hp, 4 speed manual transmission. The car was restored once in 1985. The car sat for the last 30 years untouched. The car has been in the family since 1981 and will be sad to see it go.

Over the last 2 years the car has been updated with new brakes, brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes, hoses and fluid. It has new shocks, 5 new correct Coker tires, new hub caps, aluminum radiator, plugs, wires, cap rotor, points, condenser, starter, battery, speedometer cable, and new reproduction correct exhaust with Corvette off road mufflers. All exhaust has correct clamps and hangers. The exhaust can easily be switched to quiet mufflers if desired. Brand new black Daytona carpet, correct color for the car. All fluids have been changed. All original parts were saved during recent restoration and will go with the new owner.

Wonderbar radio is original. There are many other original parts on the car including all trim, seats, door panels, dash and gauges. Seats and convertible top have no tears or holes. Convertible top functions properly and is in great shape. The car is not the original color combo. Original was red with black top. The Vette was painted with a beautiful Mariner Blue lacquer in 1985 and a new white convertible top installed before being stored. The paint is about a 20 footer, there are a few scratched spots in the paint, it could use a good wet sanding and buffing or just repaint the car. The paint is not perfect, but in great shape for the age. The chrome is very nice; some pieces could stand to be re chromed. Frame has one spot that has been repaired in the right rear. The rest of the frame is solid, never repaired.

Things that still need to be done to complete restoration:

Vehicle needs new weather stripping for the doors. All wiring under dash is intact, but needs to be connected and gone through, turn signal doesn't work, windshield wipers don't work (motor may not be wired). Wonderbar radio has no power going to it, but may work. Defrost box needs to be replace but original is there and could be repaired if desired. The driver's side window sticks when rolling up, but rolls down freely. Doors need to be adjusted; they sag slightly, not too bad. The car is missing the trunk mat. Car has never been in an accident, clean title.

This is not a NCRS restoration it is a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. This is a nice driver quality car that you can enjoy now or make it a NCRS car if that is what you wish.
