Ohio facility in June of 1969. Presented in 69 - Cortez Silver (metallic) with Black interior. The DZ 302 Cubic inch V8 with 290hp and 290ft lbs of torques is back by a M22 Heavy Duty "Rockchrusher" 4-Speed Manual Transmission. The Z28 Special Performance Package includes. N10 Dual Exhaust System. D80 Rear Spoiler. emblems on the grill. fender and rear panel along with special front and rear suspension and rear bumper guards. The heavy-duty radiator with temp-controlled fan came standard as well. the package also came with quick steering to control the 15x7 wheels that had E70x15 white letter tires on them along with four wheel disc-brakes. Stripes on the Hood and rear deck lid accent the Z28 Camaro. A brief History on the 1969 Camaro's- The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro was changed to look more aggressive. The heavily restyled body looked longer and lower. The wheel wells were flattened with sculptured feature lines flowing off the towards the rear of the car and rear-slanting air slots ahead of the rear wheel. At the front of the standard Camaros was a grille with 13 slender vertical moldings and five horizontal moldings forming a grid surrounded by a bright molding. A badge with the Chevrolet bow-tie emblem was in the center. There were single round headlights at the ends of the grille. The full width bumper integrated with the body color outer grille surround and there was a license plate holder in the center of the valance panel. Round parking lights were positioned on either side of the license plate. At the rear were wider taillight bezels with triple segment lenses. The 1969 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro remains one of Americas most desirable Muscle Cars of all. With just $458 added to the base price of $2. 26 of a Camaro coupe. the Z28 included twin rally stripes. quicker steering and the F41 handling suspension with E70x15 raised-letter tires on seven-inch wide rims. With a solid-lifter 302 V-8 and four-barrel carburetor the 1969 Z28 wasn't the fastest but definitely packed plenty of power for most performance seekers. Another option unique to the 1969 Z28 was the cowl-induction hood with a valve that opened to draw in cool air from the base of the windshield. The Hurst-shifted close-ratio four-speed was standard. The Chevy DZ 302 race engine was introduced by Chevrolet in 1967 to make the Camaro more competitive in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans-Am racing series. At that time. the new Z/28 engine option was manufactured in a smaller size due to changes in the technical rules of the SCCA race. As it turned out. this new design became a unique feature that was. and still is. very attractive to car racing enthusiasts. The engine was manufactured with rods in a floating wrist style. A metal stress-relieving process known as shot peening was used to make rods in 1968 and in later models of the DZ 302. Peening improves the property of metal by rapidly hammering it with shot peens (tiny spheres of metal) that create dimples on the surface. A specially made baffled oil pan was used in manufacturing all 302 engines. The baffles in the pan stopped the high-pressure oil pump from being uncovered when the car accelerated. turned corners or stopped. Crankshafts made of forged steel were needed because of high rpm in the 302 engine. For all three model years. the pieces of the crankshaft were tuftrided. which is a heat process in which chemicals are used to harden the bearing journal surfaces. The crank in the 1967 mode was made with 2-inch rod journals and 2. 5-inch main journals. The intake manifold was single four-barrel aluminum high-rise from 1967 to 1969. This design gave the best advantage to the other parts of the high-performance engine. A slight change in the 1967 design was a thermostat hole that was added to the intake. The location of the hole was slightly off center toward the driver's side of the car. Chevrolet used a solid-lifter 30/30 camshaft in the DZ 302 engine design. The measurements for the camshaft are . 452 inches for the intake and . 455 inches for the exhaust lift. The intake duration is 229 degrees Fahrenheit. Exhaust duration is 237 degrees Fahrenheit. Overlap at zero lift is 78 degrees. The same design was used in high-performance 327 engines in 1964 and 1965. Although solid lifters require more maintenance than hydraulic lifters. they are more reliable at high speeds. The small engine block rated a conservative 290 hp at 5. 00 rpm. It produced 290 foot-pounds of torque at 4. 00 rpm. Bore and stroke are 4 by 3 inches. The Camaro was the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 auto race in 1969. *DO NOT BID ON THIS VEHICLE UNLESS YOU PLAN ON PURCHASING IT IF YOU ARE THE HIGHEST BIDDER THAT MEETS RESERVE* IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE RESERVE.
