Car description

Up for auction is this 1959 Impala Sport Coupe that I bought a little over a year ago with the intent to restore the car. But now I've come to my senses, so it's time I pass this off to someone else. My reality is I have 3 projects in front of this one and I could be dead by the time I start restoring this car. I am not selling the car out of buyer's remorse. But it's not a priority for me to restore this so I need it out of my way.
This is a factory Tuxedo Black car which had red interior. The trim code confirms this Paint: 900A; Trim 873. The only accessory listed is the padded dash which is still (barely) in place. While it is a project car, it is also a decent start as most of the rust issues have been addressed already. If someone is looking for a 59 coupe that is at the stage where they can restore in any direction they want then this is the car for it. I'm not sure it would be a good start to a Concours de' Elegance restoration but nothing's impossible. I'll try to list the good and bad as to the best of my ability. From what I was told by the man I bought it from, all the sheet metal work was performed by a professional body man and it appears they did do a good job. What repairs I have listed are based on what I was told.
The car is currently on non op and registered in my name so it will come with a clean, non salvaged, uncomplicated title. The VIN and Trim tags are still attached to the car. The plates assigned to the car are restored YOM plates which DO NOT come with the sale.
Floors including the trunk floor has been replaced. There is a small gap where the new metal meets the toe board on the passenger underneath the car but no signs of light come through.
Trunk floor has also been replaced and looks solid from inside. The spare tire well has been patched underneath. There are small areas of rot at the back of the car that not yet been addressed. The rain gutters along the edge of the trunk opening are all intact.
Trunk lid, doors, and front fenders appear to be in good shape with no signs of dents, creases or rot. The front fenders have been replaced by Bel Air fenders as there are holes in each where the Bel Air emblems mount.
The doors line up fine and both doors and the trunk lid close nicely without any off set gaps noticed. All the glass is in the car, some panes are cracked.
The quarter on he drivers side was replaced with a full solid quarter from a Bel Air 2 door sedan.
The hood has some Bondo in it that is cracking. It was my plan to buy another hood but I never did.
The frame is usable but does has some rot near the back besides being dented in at the center of the rear. The rest of the frame has corrosion but appears intact.
The front valance panels have rot. The rear valance panels are missing with the exception the passenger side panel that has the reverse light cut out.
The car had no interior pieces when I bought it. I will include some pieces from various 1959-1960 GM coupes for the back seat area and a passenger side door panel from a 1959 Buick. I have no armrests for the front doors.
No year correct front seat but I have a GM split bench circa 1967 that will go with the car. I had this in my 1959 El Camino and it worked well.
I have a lot of the stainless trim. What you see on the car is what you get. Some of the trim is still attached, while others were placed in the approximate area the piece goes.
As for the drive train, there isn't one. The car was stripped when I got it of most trim and all mechanical parts. I believe it to originally be a high performance 348 V8 as the factory coil placement is still on the firewall which was not the case with base 348's and smaller motors. It was also ordered with the standard three speed manual on the column. There is no drive shaft nor rear pumpkin. I have a 3 speed manual with overdrive from a 1963 Impala and a rear pumpkin with (I'm told) 4:11 ratio that I can include with the sale if the buyer wants them.

I like to show interested buyers what they are getting because I know it's hard to decide on a purchase when you can't look at the car in person. The car can be shown in person and can remain where it is for a short time while waiting for a transport. It is the buyers responsibility to arrange transport if not picking the car up in person with a trailer. I reserve the right to end the auction early if I am able to sell the car locally through other venues.
Finally, for those who have (or thought about) contacting me to see if I'll take less. The advertised price is the lowest I will take. From what I've seen on other sites, you can spend your money a variety of 59 coupe projects that still have all of their rotten sheet metal and you will be starting negotiations at a higher price than this car or will spend more money that what you save by not buying this one.
