Car description

1961 Chevrolet Bel Air Flat Roof Sedan

Special one-year only 2-door sedan flat roof body style! Equipped with 1961 date-coded 348ci tri-power 350hp engine and upgraded Muncie 4-speed transmission, Pushbutton AM radio, Sun Tachometer, dog dish hubcaps, and limited slip differential! A terrific blend originality and period correct components! Solid chassis, body, and mechanically perfect! A terrific investment!

The Bel Air was top of the line for the Chevrolet line up from 1953 until the introduction of savvy new Impala in 1958. That same year, all cars were renamed in order of trim level & price as the Delray, Biscayne, Bel Air, and then the Impala. Today, many still find the classy characteristics of the Bel Air preferred over the flamboyant Impala. The fully redesigned fifth generation Bel Air was introduced in 1961 and they are unique particularly for the flat, square roof overhang on the rear window on 2-door & 4-door sedan models, while still utilizing the large curved windshield front & back. A very unique feature not easily found on the market today! A one year only feature!

Offered here is a beautiful 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door Sedan finished in code correct Jewel Blue over all original Medium Blue Cloth & Vinyl combination interior. It is fitted with a date-code FH-code 1961 348ci/350hp V8 engine with professionally rebuilt tri-power Rochester carburetion on a hot-tanked & repainted intake manifold, 1963 409ci/340hp heads, hi-temp coated exhaust manifolds mated to new aluminized original style exhaust system, rebuilt correct fuel pump, rebuilt original dual-point Delco distributo, factory style ignition wire set, #107 Delco factory spec coil, original 1961 Sun Tach tachometer recalibrated with original sending unit converted to solid state, new factory style radiator, rebuilt original water pump, new GM hoses & clamps, all detailed down to the Restoration Battery 458 DC-12 maintenance free battery and new voltage regulator! A gorgeous under hood presentation!

Coming from the previous owner of 12 years, it has been meticulously cared for with authenticity in mind. In addition to the attention to detail listed above, you will find four new dog dish hubcaps, new T3 headlight set, restored front grill, new vent window glass and trim channels replaced, new unique stainless side trim replaced, new rear glass weather stripping, new brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes, fresh shocks at all four corners, and more! It is equipped with a working AM radio and an updated 4-speed Muncie manual transmission borrowed from a 1965 Corvette for optimum shifts and performance, and limited slip rear differential! This car is a delight to drive, and a remarkable investment to the right Chevrolet collector! Super solid, absolutely rust free, and as straight as they come!
