Car description

  • They say the third time is the charm.......Up for bids again is my 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe.I have no place to store it for the winter and lost my space at work .street parking is a pain for just 1 car let alone 2 around here and this aerocoupe has to go. a brief history and description is as follows. I purchased this car in 2001 and drove it about 12,000 miles.mostly car shows and NASCAR races. It was parked and covered in a private lot most of it's life.It became a daily driver 5 years ago. The previous owner put in a new GM short block 350 with ported and polished heads,Edelbrock highrise intake manifold, performance cam, roller rocker's,roller lifter's,MSD ignition, header.s,fluid damper, performance chip, shift kit/torque converter, cowl hood,KnN air filter,Clifford alarm, etc all in June 1998 at the 93,779 mile mark. I have a folder with all the reciepts plus tech info for the camshaft. The car now has 127700. engine was driven only 33,869 total miles. oil changes always done before 3,000 mile mark using Mobil 1. This car has recent new brakes, rotors and drums plus tires, radiator and water pump plus heater hoses and heater core. This car would make a great winter project for someone who has the place and tools and know how and loves working on these old car's.lot's of things to fix.the car runs rough and very rich.I was told twice it needs a carburator, plus wires and plugs and timing off .sometimes the starter wont crank on a hot days when the engine is hot.Lock up torque converter sometimes wont release when the tranny is hot. the left side exhaust seperated and a hole developed on the right side before the cataltic converter .passenger side door handle is broken plus power window is slow to close. The AC and cruise control plus tach does not work. window seals are dry rotted. roof paint is sun burned, dash is cracked, interior is sun faded. 5 years of street parking took it's toll. The usual dings and dents and bumper skuff's. car is straight and never crashed. I had a passenger side door skin, mirror and fender replaced after a truck scraped them while the car was parked like 5 years ago. no rust problems I can see. No crazy burnouts or abusing the car while I owned it. . I run it now bi weekly to keep the battery charged and move it around to keep the brake rotors clean and reduce tire flat spots and keep from getting tickets on street sweeper day's. The car is also advertised for sale locally in case it sells before this posting end's. I enjoyed this car for a long time but lost interest in it and the up keep and TLC required for these old car's. Hopefully a young Chevy enthusiast out there will appreciate the styling and history of these NASCAR Chevy's that were quite successful with Dale Earnhardt Senior taking theNASCAR Winston Cup Drivers championships in 86 and 87 driving these Aerocoupes. Any questions please feel free to ask. The winning bidder is responsible for pick up of the car located in Hoboken,New Jersey. A $500.00 PayPal deposit and cash at pick up would be great.. Thanks for checking out my car and again, feel free to send me any questions..
