Car description

**Please note: THIS LISTING WAS CLOSED FOR A VERY NICE E-BAY MEMBER, HAT WAS NOT ABLE TO COMPLETE SALE. THAT IS THE REASON THIS TRUCK HAS NOW BEEN RE-LISTED. Thank you. This listing is proudly represented by Sherman Auto Sales, nc. in Fenton, o. We are a 69 year old Family Used Car dealership that specializes in Vintage and Special interest vehicles as well as antiques. This vehicle has been consigned to our company by the existing owner and good friend. The truck is available for any type of inspection. My direct number is 314 920-2804. Mark Sherman, res. of Sherman Auto Sales, nc. (We are a fully licensed Mo. dealer).*This 1966 Chevrolet C-10 Custom pickup is a very nice truck. I will describe this truck in as much detail as I possibly can. This will cover the history, ondition of the truck, nd the items that I feel still need attention. The information is as follows: (This information is lengthy, ut will show a very clear and real picture of this truck. Please take the time to read the full description. Thank you.-VIN C1546S183268-The VIN tag appears to have never been removed during restoration and the rivets look factory original. (There is a paint line on the edge of the VIN silver plate when it was repainted).-The original book with protect-o-plate is matching and is in the glove box.-The truck was built at the St. Louis plant and delivered to Mike Persia Chevrolet in Houston Texas-Owners name of Haskell Green in Hot Springs Ark. is printed on the book 5/11/66 as well as the Protect-o-plate.-The present owner sent Haskell Green a letter in 2002 asking for additional information on truck. That was unfortunately returned as no such address. The sealed returned envelope is still in the glove box.-The present owner has owned this truck on a clear Mo. title that is dated 3/14/2001 as his date of purchase.-The truck had ended up back in Mo. and that is where the present owner made the purchase. At this time it was owned a private collector that had several vehicles (too many)and that was his reason for selling. The truck had had the majority of work performed, ut the present owner has brought it to a higher degree of detail.-The previous owner felt the mileage was actual. The present owner has always felt the same. Due to proper laws and not having any written certification, he vehicle has to be sold as mileage exempt. The present mileage is 61,705. -We were able to identify markings on the drive-train. The transmission and rear/end are marked C0321N. This would be Mar. 21, ight shift. The engine has a tab on the front of the block that reads F0321WE. This identified as Flint Mar. 21st power glide. For this reason, e feel this is a matching numbers vehicle. Please note: I was told there is a number at the back of the engine, hat would have the VIN, ut I was not able to climb into the engine compartment to see this. This would be at the back of the engine. I would also like to note that on the front of the engine tab, hat the number one looked like an I, ut it makes good sense that it is the number one. (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG OR HAVE MAD E AN ERROR IN THIS STATEMENT).-I would also like to state as fact that the intake is not the original. It is a Chevrolet intake, ut it does have the cavity space for a choke coil, hat would not have been proper in 1966 on a truck. This truck has the proper manual choke that is operated through the dash knob control. This is only noticed when the air cleaner is removed.-The factory installed options are: Custom side moldings, ustom Chrome option, ustom appearance option, ustom comfort option, lectric wipers and washer, eluxe heater & Defroster, 83 2-barrel, ower glide transmission, ower steering, pare tire carrier-side mounted, ery "RARE TACHOMETER THAT IS BUILT INTO THE DASH CLUSTER" that includes Z-53 gauges, m radio, amp; seat full depth foam.-Dealer installed options: All Weather Air Conditioning. The present owner was told this was a dealer installed unit, ut would only have been available with the Deluxe Heater. Bumper guards, eat bet retractors.-The present owner removed the step bumper and has for appearance replaced it with a chrome bumper. The step bumper is included in this listing. (There are also accessory steel plates for the rear bumper to hide the brackets. These were never installed and are included in a box of misc. parts. These came with the new rear bumper. (They are still in primer).-The present owner has also installed the trim rings which were a Chevrolet accessory. These are reproductions.-The tires are all matched 8.15/15 Silver towns. They have almost no wear at all. (There is another set of plain steel wheels and tires which are included in this sale. The present owner removed the show wheels and tires during winter storage, o the tires would not develop flat spots. (The other tires are just on plain black wheels)-The truck has a very impressive dual exhaust with a deep throated sound. This system looks very fresh, ut was on the truck when purchased in 2001. The present owner felt that the exhaust from the factory would have possibly been a single system when new.-The truck was completely painted before the present owners purchase. It shows nicely. The owner has kept the truck waxed, ut due to age it should be professionally polished with a wool pad to remove some dryness and imperfections. These slight imperfections in the finish only show under fluorescent light. This is not seen in normal daylight.-The lines of the body are as straight as can be.-The present owner has replaced all the wood boards in the bed. The bed was removed for this installation and was done very nicely. The metal strips in the bed were all powder coated.-On the bottom of the right door lower section there are eight very tiny raised spots under the paint finish. These are on the surface under the paint and are pin head size.-On the bottom of the left there is an area about the size of a thumb nail with these spots. This is all on the outside surface only. The bottom of the doors show very nicely and still have the drain openings. These spots are minimal, ut need to be noted. You have to get on your knees to see these spots.-On the front center edge at the bottom of the hood, here is a small chip that has been touched up. This is minimal and would go unnoticed if you were not told, s it is very low.-The underside of the truck is extremely nice and has been well cared for in attention to detail. This includes even the wheel well areas.-Engine block was painted in the truck . This area should have a little more detail on the block, eads, nd intake. The valve covers were professionally powder coated as well as the air cleaner.-Several removable pieces under the hood were also removed and professionally powder coated.-The interior was all done very nicely prior to the 2001 purchase. The present owner has brought that up to a higher level of detail. The seat was done in the original material and is very comfortable and very fresh.-The steering wheel was professionally painted years ago. It now after a long period shows little particles that have lifted up under the surface. This is almost like dust. The present owner said this happened over time and was not that way when the wheel was installed. It still looks very nice.-The steering wheel is a little off center in position. There is also slight play in the steering gear box. This is only noticed if you move the wheel, hile standing still. It is not felt as you are driving.-The present owner has just had the carburetor. professionally rebuilt. The carburetor rebuild was done very properly. When the carb. was removed there was a bad stud on the engine intake for the carburetor mounting. The intake was removed and sent to a machine shop to have the stud professionally replaced. The mechanic that performed this work, as replaced the intake gasket. (The new intake gasket has a blue edge on the surface that does show upon inspection.-The carburetor center bolt that holds the air cleaner in place is about an inch too long. This was left alone, ut it should be shortened for appearance.-I personally replaced the spark plugs with the matching AC plugs. I did this as the present owner said they were over 10 years old and I wanted to personally see the condition of the plugs. They showed NO signs of oil residue or buildup. They were due for replacement, ut this assured myself this was a strong engine. (I have saved the spark plugs for anyone that would like to see them).-The engine does NOT smoke at all. I also asked the present owner how clean the engine was internally when the valve covers were removed for powder coating. He had commented the engine internally was very clean.-The radio was rebuilt several years ago. The owner said it has played very well, ut since it has been in my possession it does have static and I am not able to receive all the AM stations. This most likely is antenna related.-The present owner since his purchase in 2001 has never attempted to service the AC unit. Everything looks to be proper and in place. He felt that since the truck would only be used for car shows a few times a year and for that reason he chose to leave it alone. The unit does not blow cold.-The heater and fan worked properly, ut there was a small amount of false play in the movement of one of the heater cables. This did not interfere with the operation, ut felt it should be noted.-The present owner just replaced the battery with a normal parts store battery. He was able to use his original Delco caps, o the battery looks to be proper in appearance.-The rear seal on the transmission has a very slight drip from lack of use. Driving this truck normally always helps this seal. The cork gasket on the transmission also has slight seepage. I lightly tightened the trans. pan, ut from experience with cork gaskets, his should be considered for replacement.-All the gauges worked, ith the exception that the volt gauge did not move.-In going through all the papers from the present owner, here were several service books and manuals. Many receipts for parts that were ordered. This all remains with the truck.-There is a box of misc. new parts and stickers that remain with the truck.-The data tag in silver by the drivers left side is in its proper position and has all proper identification with paint codes. I was not able to locate the paper data tag that would have been in the glove box.-The present owner had also drawn to my attention that the power steering pulley has a slight wobble in appearance while the motor is running. This is not felt at all in the driving. He does have a new pulley that is included in a box of misc. parts.-All lights work, ith the exception of the back-up lights. The present owner said when he removed the bed, he wiring was not reconnected.*I as a seller will always try and be very specific with my listings.
