Car description

1965 Chevrolet Chevelle SS coupe: Here is a very drivable classic/collector car. With less than 8K miles on the engine and running gear, t runs strong and reliably and could easily be your daily driver. All mechanical work was done at a very high level, nd could be easily undone if desired to return the car to completely stock condition. This is a true SS car, one of the body panels have been cut, he car is rust free and I am the 3rd owner (past 17 years). The car drives extremely well and is very popular at local shows and "Cars & Coffee" gatherings and gets plenty of "thumbs-up" on the road. This isn't a show car but a great example of a collector car that can be driven/enjoyed regularly and safely. It is a safe, asy to drive, nd own classic that hasn't been drag raced, ut, rashed, usted or permanently modified to the extent that it will be less collectable or desirable for future stewards (because none of us are really owners!).

This car was built in Fremont, A. then spent most of its time around the high desert area of Riverside/Southern, A.

The original 283 (numbers match) V8 is intact, ebuildable and included with the sale. Stock motor includes early and correct numbers "PowerPak" heads (9.25/1 C.R) roller rockers, ldebrock performance manifold and electronic ignition upgrades. The original Power-glide had been replaced when I got the car. A B&M TH 350 including an aux. transmission cooler was installed with the new crate engine.

A new GM Crate motor (350ci/350bhp) is installed with a full port electronic fuel injection system not a Throttle Body (TB) system. Major components include An Edelbrock EFI system using components developed by Howell EFI The Howell EFI system is a full function system, tilizing a standard GM computer (ECM), nd Oxygen sensor, nd has complete GM diagnostic capabilities. Once warmed up, he engine operate in "Closed Loop" mode with the ECM adjusting air/fuel ratio and spark timing as dictated by the oxygen sensor in the exhaust (header) pipe just like your modern daily driver. Unlike carburetor systems, good EFI system provides excellent cold-starts and good performance throughout the entire operation range. In addition it delivers reasonable fuel mileage, nd excellent drivability regardless of the altitude or weather conditions. The GM on-board diagnostics continuously monitor the system for proper operation and inform you of any faults via a "Check Engine" LED mounted discreetly on the small panel located below the steering column. This system includes an ECM chip specifically made for this car based on engine, hassis and running gear specifications of the car. The installation includes all the electronics and ancillary components to make the car an absolutely dependable driver. If there is ever an issue, ny Chevy Dealer or competent shop can use a scanner to find the problem. Here is a list of features and details:

Complete new custom exhaust system with street headers and Flowmaster mufflers fabricated specifically for this car by my brother who owns a muffler & repair shop. Running gear also includes a new Eaton posi-track (3:55) rear end inside the original housing. New gas shocks and coil springs all around. Upgraded rear suspension with reinforced rear trailing arms, oly bushings and sway bars front and rear; however the car still sits at original height. See other notes regarding steering, rake & suspension safety upgrades.

Crocus Yellow Exterior Paint is the original color. It is an older application but very presentable; Black vinyl interior was replaced with comfortable and attractive neutral grey tweed paint after seat frames and foam were rebuilt. All of the SS interior & exterior trim is intact.

(4) New BFG G-Force KDW tires on 17" American Torque Thrust II wheels are currently on the car, lso included is a full set (clean, traight and undamaged w/fasterners) of 15" Cragar SS wheels with serviceable BFG TA's. (new radial spare has never been on the ground and is in the trunk with the original bumper jack and tire iron)

New custom stainless steel fuel tank with integral fuel pump, new sending unit and fuel lines to properly support the EFI system.

New dash top and visors, new black carpet w/ dyna-mat insulation beneath. The stock floor shift console is still in the car and functional. Also new foot pedals, nd door sills, nside door skins, nd door handles are installed.

New Dakota Digital Dash has been installed in original stock instrument panel that has been re-chromed (the original instrument cluster showing 167,000 miles is also included with the car). Nothing inside the car has been cut/hacked/drilled or compromised. The computers for the digital dash system and ECM are discreetly placed in the stock glove box (see photos); the stock A/C and heating systems are still intact and blow cold or hot air as you want them to.

New 4- wheel power disc brakes (original drum brake equipment comes with the car)

New Flaming River tilt/safety steering column with rosewood steering wheel

New Red-Top Battery

New windshield and gasket, nd all other glass gaskets have been replaced. Windows retain their stock tint color.

Wiring has been updated and several relays and a 140 amp alternator installed for reliable operation of the EFI.

The car has the factory installed integrated A/C and heat system just like when it was new and both work very well using the original controls.

Custom Auto Sound Radio, /amp and 4 speaker system.

Custom car cover included.
